Last paragraph is somewhat worrying:
And it's not really true or applicable unless Heupel interferes

Complexity was a Tennessee problem back when Phillip Fulmer hired the very bright Dave Clawson as offensive coordinator in 2008. Vols never figured out what they were supposed to be doing. Fulmer was fired.

20 years ago and didn’t involve anyone currently influencing anything at Tennessee. If you worry about that you have a worry problem and should probably see a therapist. That sounds mean I know but my wife is a therapist and helps a lot of people who didn’t think they needed help. Just a suggestion! GBO

Last paragraph is somewhat worrying:

It's a concern for sure. But it's also hard to be worse than this year's unit..

Yep… All that was happening with Clawson was he was introducing spread concepts to a coach who didn’t fully buy in and an awful QB room.

The comparison is a reach at best. You literally could say this about any new coordinator.

Last paragraph is somewhat worrying:

It’s not worrying at all. Good grief. I think some of you are just looking for negatives about the Knowles hire.

Agree. Some are worried that they didn’t have anything to worry about.

Last paragraph is somewhat worrying:

The problem Coach Fulmer had with Dave Clawson was not Clawsons faught. Fulmer hired him to run his offense but would not let him. He would not get out of the way to let him run his offense the way he wanted to

For sure, like any major decision introducing change there is a RISK/REWARD issue.

But the biggest most important difference between the Clawson and Knowles situations if immediate transformation to greatness does not come to pass is the competency of the AD’s and the AD/Coach dynamic. They both seem to ignore the noise from the peanut gallery, regardless of volume of their less informed analysis. How the staff changes, underclass growth and portal NET plays out will be an interesting study and certainly be internally reviewed.

Why do some of you seem to think we had the worst defense in the nation?
Because our defense wasn’t very good. I could probably look up a bunch of stats but the bottom line is we give up way too many 3rd downs, we don’t tackle well and we’re awful in pass defense.

Just something close to average defense that gets off the field a couple more times per game probably makes us a playoff team.

Last paragraph is somewhat worrying:

It takes WRs 2 years to learn CJH’s system so we should probably get rid of him too!

How many defensive people play as freshman anyway?

Will this next year be bumpy yes but who cares if the D takes a great step forward in year 2 after just coming out of 5 years of mostly mediocre D.
