Weird. He wasn't on the team this season because he announced in April that he was medically retiring.

As for the position question, he was signed as a guy who could play on either side of the ball, but became an OT at Tennessee.
Probably took the “medical” in order to stay on scholarship a year. Now he might be fully recovered & feels he could play elsewhere.

Really hoped he would contribute in 26-27 after he signed. Can see where he got recruited over in this recent class for OT but thought he could be a factor at SDE.

I don't know if this is the case with him but many times, the medical staff at school A will not clear a player to return. They then go into the portal and see if another school will clear them. Pearce Spurlin is a TE from Georgia who medically retired two years ago with a heart issue. He has been cleared by his doctor and now will try to play somewhere.. It is true that medically retiring would keep the scholarship money coming..
