Chiles, like Hooker, was benched at his previous school and likes to run, apparently.

There's that, but catching lightning in a bottle twice? If it happens that he comes to UT and it happens that he's a perfect fit, I'll be very pleasantly surprised.

CJH is either a QB guru or his system makes QB’s look good. Either way, even less that average QB’s have done well under him here.

I can’t see this happening unless he’s coming in as depth. Chiles got benched for a reason… he struggles to make reads, deliver accurate passes and panics in the pocket a lot. He’s essentially a runner who happens to play QB and doesn’t fit at all with our scheme

I’m hoping that sooner or later our starting QB will be someone we recruited from HS. Surely, our coaches can develop somebody.
Or at least someone who can start for more than one season. Only one QB has done that since Huepel has been here and look at the results! 5 of Huepel's 6 teams have had a different starting QB. We change QB's the way Spinal Tap changes drummers!

If it is him it better be cheap so we can load up everywhere else. A 9 gam SEC schedule means we need depth like never before. Look what happened at corner this year… there is a balance but I’m 100% against giving one kid the brinks truck who could then tweak a knee in camp and never play. Spread the money across several spots.

A dual threat quarterback definitely fits CJH’s offense the best. After five years of looking and learning… Hooker was the bomb.

"For the 2025 Michigan State season, QB Aidan Chiles played through Week 9, finishing with 1,392 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, a 68.6 QBR, but was then benched and entered the transfer portal in December 2025.
Here's a breakdown of his reported stats before being benched:

  • Passing Yards: 1,392
  • Touchdowns (TDs): 10
  • Interceptions (INTs): 3
  • QBR: 68.6 (ranked 40th)
Key Context:
  • Chiles transferred to MSU from Oregon State and was the starting QB for much of the 2025 season.
  • He was benched after the Week 9 loss to Michigan and didn't play again.
  • He entered the transfer portal in mid-December 2025, ending his time with the Spartans."
Yep! That's what we need, a QB that was benched after their loss to Michigan during week 9.
