The difference between being top 15 and top 30 isn't much anymore. It sucks to fall out, but I don't think becuase we lost today with upteen amount of opt outs means any different than if we won with those guys and snuck in the top 25.

The margin for error isn't as much so we fell this year. But with incrementally better defense, a few more made kicks, and less costly turnovers we can easily vault back into a playoff teams.

I think it's more of a commentary on the state of college football than anything else. If these mercenaries aren't in the playoff, they don't give AF about the bowl game. We should do what ND did from now on. Just decline the bowl if we don't make the playoff.

Did our guys get confused and somehow think Vandy was a bowl game?

Agree with every sentence.

Heupel is like Fulmer at the end of his tenure, living on the past. Granted its not because he won a championship here but he came in and turned us around from perineal looser to successful in a bowl every year kind of way. So he is setting on his laurels but next year that seat should be getting hotter.
