with the playoffs about to expand, players portalling out at will, numerous starters "opting out", the bowl games just aren't interesting.
Pretty much just feel irrelevant.
Maybe teams should just "opt out" of the bowl games.

"Yeah but teams get extra practices, young players get playing time"....so what?
Most of these "bowl" games just aren't exciting anymore.

MAN these grapes are sour... 🤣

Bowl games used yo just be exhibitions. The national champion was named before the bowl game even.
It was just a party for fans and alumni. They are back to that with the playoffs. Just an exhibition and chance to travel to someplace new for the party.

ND is a little girl throwing a temper tantrum. They should be admonished for their actions. There are players that get a chance to play in bowls that may not have during the season. It's their time to get something on tape. Seniors or Juniors thinking of jumping to the NFL can try and show out one more game to impress a scout. Others might just be playing the last game of their football career. All of that was robbed from them for a bitchy attitude by the coach.

I remember when Bray and company threw a late season game just so they wouldn’t have to practice. That’s what you will start seeing more of.

Tennessee would have been fined by the SEC. The schools would lose money if SEC team bails out.

Need to drop a cupcake game and have playoffs after bowl season. Would bring in a ton more money, make bowl games relevant and pit similar competition across conferences to help determine conference strength for playoff rankings.

I'd argue they've always been exhibitions; they were just given more "importance" because that's all we had. It's like being feed only crappy McDonald's hamburgers and then later you're finally given a real hamburger to eat and you suddenly think the McDonald's is worthless. No...the McDonald's didn't change, your perspective did. Bowls have always been mostly McDonald's.

I mean the Citrus Bowl was a joke back in the Spurrier era ("You can't spell Citrus without 'UT'").
