As much as I love you guys enthusiasm, I am very disappointed that our offensive coaching staff can’t make adjustments or get out of their own way.

Something has got to give. When the plan doesn’t work, DO SOMETHING ELSE! Indiana scored 63 on that team that held us at bay. And Brazzel doesn’t make that much of a difference.

I get it. A bunch of freshman playing tonite. Offense wasn't our problem overall this season. Defense has stunk it up all year.

I agree, vanilla play calling. Coaching conservative. Players looked lost and out of sync

The defense can’t get off the field.

This season was a disappointment but Heupel has us on the right track. Stay the course, new DC will improve the defense. Heupel knows how to score points. We have a really good class coming in, the future is bright. This season is Heupel's floor, we are going to be better moving forward.
Unless Jim Knowles improves our defense greatly and we get a great portal QB, we will lose at least 4 games next year

I’m not sure he ‘knows how to score’ when it counts. Seems like we struggled to score after the first quarter most of this year.

The offense essentially had 3 possessions each half (excluding the possession before the half and the FF for TD on 1st play of another possession.) Otherwise, they had no problem moving the ball. Of those 6 possessions, they had 3 TD drives of 67+ yards. They only punted x2.

Not a perfect showing, but offense shouldn't have to be perfect. Meanwhile defense could not get off the field. Illinois averaged 5.7 yards per run and 27 1st downs.

This sounds eerily familiar for some reason...

100% do not agree:

1) CJH still cant manage a game, its like he's unaware of how to employ game strategy and timeouts
2) Tenn needs a reliable kicker
3) Def will still be a liability next year, takes 2-3 years to realize the benefits of new DC's scheme and get his players.
4) CJH lacks a killer instinct and therefore the team does and will not play to put games away. Reminds me of the old Fulmer playing not to lose crap.
5) Team lacks discipline, they are not process focused, pushed to execute correctly and with effort on every play regardless of the situation. The Saban way, most recently showing fruits with Curt Cignetti @ Indiana (with way less NIL $).

Zero quality wins with the NIL$ Tenn spends, and the "talent fee" for what? Crap uninspired football?

Recruiting Rankings:
2025 Tenn 11, Illinois 46
2024 Tenn 14, Illinois 49
2023 Tenn 10, Illinois 38

Sabans & Cignettis are rare.

I love Tenn but CJH is not the guy, he's awful in games with adjustments, wont engage or work the refs, doesn't fire up his team, looks like a whipped dog or husband who cant lead.

Yes he's better than terrible.

I agree. It’s the little things that every fan can see and yet our coaches can’t. I have 1/10000th of the football mind that Halzle and Heupel have, but even I can see that when the opposing defense is running two high safeties and Star Thomas is chewing them up you keep feeding him until they stop him or abandon that package, then you can throw it deep.

Game Management? How did he screw up TOs tonight? I’d love to see all these geniuses handle a 2 minute drill just once. You’d **** your pants.

No coach can stop a team running for 6 yds per carry during the game. You stop that recruiting. If you want to criticize Heupel AND Garner for not getting DL help in the portal last year, fine but that’s the only way you stop someone running right at you all night.

As bad as I hate say it, CJH should be on the hot seat next season just for the reasons listed above. Good coach just not on the top tier list.

Sure, sure. Keep whistling past the graveyard. Heupel's floor will be reset come next season and he's got 1-2 more seasons before getting the heave ho.

This is 💯 fact. This game was a microcosm of the season. Missed kick, undisciplined defense, turnovers on offense, awful adjustments from the staff. We’ll be lucky to make a bowl game next year. We need to find a QB…otherwise we’re gonna get embarrassed

And don’t forget, the team had 4 weeks to prepare for this game. What they did, no idea.

Defense been bad all year. Then you have your three best defensive players opt out.
