Just kidding. Another season filled with realistic chances and I’m not 100% when I say this but I believe we failed them all. (I'm trying to present it in Dave Chappelle fashion.).

Part of me is thankful for the season they threw together at the last minute. Joey was a huge surprise as was the offense in several ways. There were some goals that they achieved in my opinion. The offense took a big step in the right direction for the most part, especially being able to get the passing game going in a better fashion. Bringing in Knowles should solve some of the defensive problems, especially if they are able to win in the portal this offseason.

I hate losing and hated last night's lackluster offensive performance as well, but quite frankly they are who I thought they were all season long. This team has some talent, but they made too many critical errors and played sloppy football too many times to win when it mattered most. Missing kicks, penalties, turnovers, and questionable play calling killed their chances to be a playoff contender.

Heupfully they use this season's experience to learn, grow, and make the necessary changes to take a big step towards getting into the playoffs next season. That includes the coaching staff, their playcalling, S&C, and discipline on the field. They have to get bigger, stronger, and clean up their silly mistakes if they expect to be a contender. If I can see it, surely they can too.

we have been this team since 2021. this is who we will be as long as Huepel is here. just have to hope another Hooker/Hyatt/Sampson falls into your lap every once in awhile.

Don’t believe in moral victories EVER. Can’t respect “FANS” that feel justified to REPETITIVELY sell moral losses. Losing a game on the final play after a lackluster performance stinks, but nearly as bad as those that sell out “THEIR” team. The game thread is replete with embarrassing takes. 25 or more attacks on our kicker is A telling example. Our fanbase and especially our staff is capable of reviewing the fact sets without that type of corporate display of lack of character. Any, repeat any value add to that action?

I think its fixable. The defense should improve dramatically under Knowles. I also believe Heup is going to have to change and be more of a disciplinarian as a HC. I'm not sure if he can do that or not, but he is still young so there's still time for him to look in the mirror and make a change if he wants to. Its up to him though, so only time will tell if he's willing to hold his team more accountable for silly mistakes and execution.

True. We caught lightning in a bottle in 2022 and had the best season so far under Heupel. Joe Milton took much of the blame for 2023. We benefited from Alabama, Oklahoma and Florida being down last year, but could have easily finished 8-5 or 7-6 last year. This year could have been worse with close wins over Mississippi State and Arkansas. I love the Tennessee Volunteers, but man have these past 3 seasons been painful to watch. Not as bad as watching the teams coached by the previous three stooges, but I guess now that we actually have seen success under this coach it is just frustrating to see the struggles now.

this has been an issue with him his whole head coaching career. it hasn't changed at all. i don't believe it changes now. Our only hope for that is that Knowles comes in and is that guy. Huep better hope the defense picks up that defense in a hurry this offseason. could be the defensive version of the Clawfense all over again... we know how that ended..

the concerning part to me is that he did this same thing at UCF. he came out of the gate hot and then regressed back down. UCF fans all warned us of it when we hired him. Seems to be happening right in front of us if he doesn't get something going this offseason. I am hopeful going into next season but we better not come out and lose to GT AND Texas out of the gate...

Not beating a team with a winning record is PATHETIC and UNACCEPTABLE.
Oh wait, but but but we own ETSU!!!
Regression won’t get it.

As far as fans bashing players and giving steaming hot takes during a loss, that's a tale as old as time. I wont call out any players by name as there isn't one player at fault for the loss. The team as a whole played a really bad game on both sides of the ball with some really bad execution and dumb penalties, especially the offense who typically plays better than that. I thought they abandoned the run on too many plays when it felt like they were running with authority.

I understand. I've reached the point where I don't yell at the TV at least anymore. I just say things like "Welp can't do that" or "Hey maybe they shouldn't play that far back from the receiver. Oh well", or "Why do a suplex move on that guy for a penalty when all you had to do was a standard tackle?" and so on. Then I calmly switch the channel and find something else to do when it's over. I'm afraid the issue is coaching AND players and possibly strength and conditioning which means they'll probably have to reset the team again in a couple years. I hope they can figure it out for next year.
