I thought this game didn't matter...

.....if we won or lost.

Fans gonna fan, I guess.
There’s always going to be discussion after a game. Now mostly whether it means anything or not and what to do about the opt outs. No reason to discuss details of the game. (Frankly I’ve already forgotten most of them.) Everybody saw the same porous defense we’ve seen all year and we saw how much Chris Brazzell meant to Joey and the offense. His absence was critical.

If I put a helmet on it matters. If I pick up a baseball bat it matters. If I went three for four at bat I'm mad because I didn't go four for four. If I go to work it matters - I want to be the best at my workplace. If I'm at the dragstrip how I drive, even in practice, it matters. That's the problem with our X-Box generation......nothing matters but video games. No personal pride in what they do. Well, it matters to me and how I am thought of. I want people to remember how I put out whether in practice or in a game. Everything counts in sports and in life.

Yep. I was just reading from some that this was a meaningless game. Now the fire everyone crowd is out in full force.

Using that logic, if it was meaningless and that was the performance we got, then the fire everyone crowd would seem to be justified in their outrage. Maybe not the best time to be firing everyone, but at the very least, raising the warning flags on the state of the program.

Some fans love to say that if the team loses or if they think they might lose but get fired up if their team wins. Nearly all bowl games were always “pointless” when it came to the national championship picture (and in many cases a more talented but unmotivated team struggled to win or lost) but it’s a nice opportunity for many players, extra practices, and a chance to see your team play another time. Makes me appreciate the guys who were out there! Definitely sucked not having Brazzell etc. would have loved to win that game.

Oh well hope we land some studs from the portal.

It doesnt and didnt matter. In any form! Good food, drinks and partys on Broadway was the highlight. The Game meant nothing to this season. Why would you feel better today if the Vols had won by a couple of points. What in the Wide World of Sports would that have proved. UT is MID level SEC at Best!

Clear that the responders (thus far) either didn't get your original point or just ignored it. I said before the game that the majority of Volnation seems to defend players "opting out" of a "meaningless bowl game" (i.e. abandoning the coaches and teammates), but will definitely use a 5th loss against Heupel.
Admittedly, though, the babble on here comes in waves, so you never know if it's the same group. The Volnation schizophrenia might be an illusion.

Oh there's a plethora of regulars that perpetuate their own misery with UT having an average season

There’s always a faction that wants to string up the head coach if they don’t win every game. The sense of entitlement is strong in some. Pay them no mind. The coach has made the change that obviously had to be made. We shall see how that goes.
