Defensive line and offensive line physicality and toughness win games. The game evolves here and evolves there, but these things never change about football. Cristobal has built an absolute monster in the trenches. They have the defense to win it all and if they can control the line of scrimmage like they did tonight, no one will be them.

Easier said than done. Heupel has built UT to be a fast, finesse team. Physicality isn't his thing and it appears to be foreign to the vast majority of our roster. We're in a pretty deep hole at the moment.
Yep....we got the wrong coach for Miami's style of ball. Not even close. We are built for soft.

We did something similar about a decade ago with legacy players like they have. A guy named Butch Jones wasted it.
Fulmer just needed a year off for family and chronic stress decompression and we would be stacked with talent and 5+ natties by now. He would be announcing a retirement soon, or a second sabbatical, and not leave like Kiffin (program stability). We would be aware of the retirement plans or the 2nd family leave, and the program would be ripe for top prospects, coaching talent, to fulfil those pains of him retiring.

We overworked the work horse of our life time. Couldn't just give him a one year off to adapt to the new nature of the game. He was too busy making us a championship team and recruiting 24/7, stress of no family time. He's a true Tennessee guy, a family man, I'm sure he wishes he had more time with them, but did it for Tennessee. None of that was worth a sabbatical, even winning it all in 1998. That was THE guy, and he just needed a year off with family. Instead we got impatient and just taking more and more out of the guy. Never any thanks, never any year off for family. Losers hate winners.

Miami has some dudes. We dont get a lot of player types like that. The last time we had one we won the Natty in ‘98.

What?! Fulmer never had any thanks and was just being a public servant for University? He was raking in millions and was loved by the fans (still is, really). Are you saying he was sacrificing his family for the team and sacrificing his team for his family? Perhaps he was stretched thin and stopped excelling at all of his duties, I get that. I recall reading that Mrs. Fulmer asked him to retire after the NC in 1998.
