Well , no surprise here. Many will be ecstatic, but it just shows what incredible pressure young 17 year olds are under to perform. He will probably go on to be the best kicker in the NFL. (with our luck) . No room for error in this day and time with college football. Hope you are successful.

I have to say, this is the first time I have ever fully witnessed the power of these threads here on Volnation actually carry weight with the football program. First it was the DC, then defense assistants, and now our kicker. We (some of our posters) must be receiving NIL deals too.

I've been checking the mailbox daily for the check. So far nothing

If Ole Miss can have a kicker that makes 90% of his attempts then we can too. Gilbert has missed 11 kicks in 2 years. 75% is below average in today’s world of kicking. You need to be at least 80% to be serviceable. And stop with this “17 year old” BS. Gilbert is a RS Sophomore and 21 years old. If you are old enough to purchase alcohol you are old enough to be criticized. 3 years into college and you can’t be depended on to make routine kicks. Yeah sorry but you can GTFO and we will find someone that doesn’t contribute to losing big games. This is big boy football, not high school.

He's a good kicker. Just folds under pressure; you can see it in his eyes.

Change of scenery might actually do him good. He can become a great kicker if he just gets past the psychological hurdles. I wish him the best of luck!

He should consider a dose of Propranolol before each game. Beta blocker. Blocks the effects of adrenaline. Gets rid of the stage fright nerves without sedating or impairing judgment or reaction time. Many performers or public speakers use it.
