In talking to my OK State contact said something very interesting. JK indicated that this is the most input he has had in a staff since he was HC at Cornell and will have more guys here with some level of experience with him than at any other stop.

He became DC at Duke (hired by Cutliffe) and worked entirely with staff that was already in place. When he arrived at OK State it was the same situation with exception of 2 former Duke grad assts that were hired as analysts at OK State. When he left to go to the OSU he had one very important position coach there in Matt Guerrieri and brought 3 guys with him from OK State to take on support roles (Hunter Jr was one of those guys). At Penn State the entire staff was in place and he only brought in two guys in support roles.

Here with Vols he will have Poindexter & Jackson who have 1 year with him (and he has great respect for AP, told it might be the quickest he has built trust in a coach), and Micheal Hunter Jr has 3+ years with Knowles. Add in 2 vets with Inge & Garner and JK feels like this will be the most efficient & effective install of his system that he has had at any stop. There will also be two support guys coming in that each have multiple years experience working with Jim.

Stoener Fumbles (sorry if spelling is off) mentioned in another thread about Knowles reputation as a teacher. My contact said the best description of JK is a "professor". He said he is an absolute master teacher, not just coach to player, but coach to coach. He said while he has some quirks is personality he doesn’t care about credit and sees teaching as the way he invest in others. He creates an environment where every coach has a voice & expectation to communicate & support one another. He said after how things ended with OSU & Penn State it seems like Knowles is just super energized & excited

You’ve been bringing the heat the past few days.

Maybe if you get a chance ask your buddy what Knowles thinks of the returning defensive talent.

Thank Nate

Does this give Heupel three more years since there will be an acclimation period?

Great post and great news.

Yes, you misspelled @Stoerner Fumbles , but I think Stoner Fumbles is a more appropriate name for that window-licking dolt.

JK was the guy I wanted. I believe he’s top 3 DCs in College Football. We should see immediate improvement but 2027 and beyond we’ll know really whether he fits or not. JMHO
