Portal Players That Have Been Asked To Leave

I just saw a goodbye letter to fans from a Texas WR and he said as much in the last paragraph.

very few if any IMO

Most were asking for more money then UT would pay and when told that and decided to leave.

Some were told on exit intervew where they stood on depth chart and decided to leave.

Some likely were recruited by other schools and decided to try the portal. Probably ties in with first.

Those are the primary reasons for leaving

Athlete: "That short fu**er don't score if one of the dudes behind me make a play."

UT: "Annd that's a conversation for another couple of guys later on this week."

Agent: "So what number are you thinking? He was Co-MVP 3 times this past season."

UT: "We're thinking 911...to report a robbery. And he was the Co-MVP for our opponent 3 times this past season."

Agent: "Again, MVP potential."

Athlete: "Hey yo...you really want me at Bama or Georgia?"

UT: "How much do you want to go there? We'll meet both schools halfway on your demand to them."

Agent: "So...you'll consider our terms?'

Athlete: "Cool. So I'm getting paid double, right?"

UT: "Both of you are so dense you would sink in a vat of mercury."

Heard wanted a ton of money to move positions for a younger guy to take his spot.
Gilbert did what was absolutely best for him. I'm not a "mental health" snowflake type; but staying wouldn't be good for the guy. He needs a 2nd chance.
Jefferson was injured and fell out of the teams game plan, I think.
Thomas, I guess I'm brain dead on this one. I don't know who the Thomas is, we are referring to. Jakobe Thomas?

There are a dozen or so outlets telling the tale about the WR from Texas being let go and I wondered as fans of UT suspect that happens here.. .I personally thought it a possibility

Heard actually wanted to stay at left tackle along with that money
agree with your take on Gilbert
I doubt Jefferson ever plays anywhere.. just don't think his health allows
Thomas was Star and he is finished and going no where.. Might get a shot as an UDFA in the NFL... they sign a lot of those types

In fact I would say the majority that enter the portal do it because their playing time is probably going to be limited by staying. Of course there are also other reasons, many players from lower divisions excell and look to move up in competition while also making money. Many different reasons for many folks.

I don’t think they are asked to leave, I think the conversation is more like… you will need to take a pay cut based on health, development:

Heard
Jefferson
Gilbert
Loftin
Gibson
