Vanderbilt may be the best team in Tennessee women’s basketball after they beat LSU, or LSU is not as good as we thought they were. It will be see how Vanderbilt does against the rest rest of the SEC. I still look for Tennessee to improve.

Nope. Don't let Vanderbilt's 15-0 fool you. Ralph is working from the old school Auriemma "don't play anything important until you have to" approach. Stonehill, Albany, Cal, Tennessee State, Virginia, Texas Southern, Austin Peay, South Florida, so on, so forth. You won't find any UCLAs or Louisville's on Vanderbilt's pre-conference schedule. And to top it off? Vanderbilt only had TWO road games prior to their SEC slate. That's right. All those cupcakes, and they only played two (WKU and Austin Peay) on the road.

Now I know what someone's gonna say. "Yeah but they beat LSU." Nah. Nah dog, no dice. That's just big cupcake eating little cupcake. Go look at LSU's 14-2 record. They didn't play anyone either. Mulkey just did her usual "fatten up the record on nobodies" routine. Tulane, Marist, Charlotte, GA Southern, Alcorn State, New Orleans ... they did beat Duke but I don't know if that's worth saying a lot. LSU certainly hasn't beaten anyone sniffing the top 25, and once LSU got to SEC play they've taken two L's. That tells you just how much their 14-0 was worth. The voters will of course go ga-ga over it, because they also went ga-ga over LSU's 14-0 with that pastry tray of an OOC schedule. Somehow that made them the #5 team. Oh well.

Vanderbilt does have one thing, and Blakes. She was 50% of their points against LSU and 30% of their points on the season. That's the sort of impact a big time recruit can have on a program. They're certainly good, but let's not go crowning them just yet.

I don’t think anyone is fooled by the start but Shea Ralph has improved this team over the year since being here… If she keeps this up she will inherit Uconn once Geno retires.

I also remember she beat us twice last year with less. Ralph is putting down a blueprint that will be successful. I’m not glowing over them by any means but recognize progress and growth. Our OOC was def much harder. Hopefully it will pay off for us coming down the road.

I wouldn’t say she had less last year. She had Khamil Pierre and Iyanna Moore along with Blakes

They got pounded on the boards last night. LSU could not keep them off the free throw line lose there plus 9 for Vandy. Vandy made 10 threes to LSU just three. Right now LSU has tremendous talent yet they are suffering from poor defensive play and are fouling to much. Johnson 0 for 4 and that is all in this game. Money has made her soft. LSU is not as good as they thought they were look a lot like us. They are going to lose at least four to five SEC games maybe more.

Vandy first win over anybody still have a lot of games coming up to see how good they are. Probably going to have a winning SEC season looks to me something like 10 and 6 maybe 11 and 5.

Yep , that's a pretty good trio and Pierre is NC States best player now Vandy had a good roster last year and this year too. The freshman had a great game vs LSU yesterday
Good rosters make good teams. Great coaches make great teams. I don't know if Ralph is a great coach, but she certainly has had a major positive impact at Vandy.

You can say many things about Coach Geno, and you can criticize his conference opponents, which he has no control over. However, one thing that you can never accuse him of is not scheduling tough out of conference opponents.

Whether they are or not, they have nothing to do with Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball.
They should have their own forum on their own site.
Like Vanderbilt are not playing LV’s anymore? It doesn't matter, who is the better team will be decided on the hardwood, I just hope it is the LV’s , however, time will tell.
