Does this team have any offense or just relying on pitching?
I don't think we really know enough about the offense. They were really great in the early schedule, but most of those teams were Mid majors. A lot of home runs from a few players. With all the new faces going to be a learning process for all of us fans this time.

Welcome to the annual roster churn… sheesh 🙄
What churn? Only lost two players that played a significant role to the portal, one was fairly publicly tampered with by Texas Tech, the other had lost her spot in the lineup. Everyone else graduated.

Hopefully she lives up to that ranking. She is one of the two transfers we got from Boise State which were probably the best two players they had. She was out most of the games we played in the fall. Looks like with the Doyle injury she wins the first base job.

Cut this piece about LVSB from a long Q&A with DW on the state of TN athletics in case some has not seen it. All good news.

On changes made at Tennessee’s softball stadium

“We got some televisions coming in the concourses, working on that. I got that feedback last year. Particularly late in the season when the games matter so much. Didn’t want to miss a single pitch. You know, when Karlyn Pickens is throwing the ball, you don’t want to miss any one of them. But our new clubhouse will break ground next month. We were a first mover in softball from a facility standpoint and we were a leader nationally. We’ve fallen behind a little bit and we’re going fix that in short order. An expansion and a new front door to our softball clubhouse is drastically needed. And so that’s the first phase. And then we’re looking very seriously in seeking philanthropic help for an indoor indoor practice facility for softball that the elite softball programs around the country all have, other than us. Because we are obviously an elite softball program.”

Any thoughts on what that starting lineup will look like this season. We will have a new player at almost every position and a lot of options for an opportunity to play. Some players I think we might see as starters are:

MaKenzie Butt at first base
Ella Dodge second base
Shortstop looks up for grabs. Faw is a junior don't know how she has progressed.
Third base looks like Emma Clarke or Maddie Rutan who also pitches
Catcher looks totally to belong to Elsa Morrison
Sophia Knight will be in the outfield
Gabby Leach may also be a starter, but there is competition.
Have no idea who gets the other outfield position. Morgan? Maybe someone with more power. One of the freshmen.
DH probably Rutan if Clarke wins third. Or it could totally be someone else.

The pitching looks really strong

Nuwer and Rutan along with the number two freshman look to be a reliable backup group to Pickens.

Just 20 more days until we open with BYU in Clearwater, Florida.

ESPN or one of their network channels is scheduled to broadcast all 40 games so we will get to see the team in action from day one of action of February 5th.
That’s all 40 games of the Clearwater Invitational the second weekend of the season, not the full Tennessee schedule.
