Our beloved Vols had a record of 73-75 from 2009 throught 2020 when we insisted Fulmer needed to go. I'm not saying that it wasn't time to move on, but continuing to leverage your so-called expertise that the coach needs to be fired certainly does not guarantee squat! Sure, you can blame the fact that we didn't want to spend the money, but that's an easy argument. Maybe some coaches don't or didn't want to come here.

Some of you keep telling us to take off our orange colored glasses, but I think you should take off your "Tennessee is the best job in the country glasses." Yes, I want it to be the best place as well, but man y'all.

I kind of don't blame Danny White for being immature against a fan on Twitter.

I've talked to Danny White at least 4-5 times. He cares about fan experience, wish he cared more about the passionate fans. He has hurt the atmosphere at all major sports games trying to please the wine and cheese crowd. I don't care about light shows, fireworks, huge jumbotrons, I care about winning and being a outstanding home field advantage

Indiana has lost more games than any Power 4 school. Cignetti has come up with a new way and no one can match his ability to spot diamonds in the rough and develop them. But the fans want similar results.

I am confident that DW really, really, really, and truly appreciates all of his defenders.

It's touching that many of you take time out of your day to passionately defend a guy who would be more likely to hand you his key fob to park his car than shake your hand.

But, you be you. DW REALLY appreciates your support. Really.

Yeah but the wine and cheese crowd has something many of us don't - lots and lots of money.

I really enjoy what he has done with the light show, fireworks, etc. Those are some of the reasons why we drowned such National attention and it helps recruiting. Also, our football program is much improved from what it was when he was hired. So has the rest of our sports programs. I would give him a raise. rather criticize him for his accomplishments. We are lucky to have him here.

It was time for Fulmer to go. The problem was with the hires. Kiffen would have done really good if he stayed, the next 3 had no business being hired.

This. This. This. And the panic hire of Derek Dooley started it all. I never thought I’d see the day that the University of Tennessee would panic hire a coach from Louisiana Tech with a losing record.

They didn't have any business being a HC in any capacity at any program.
Butch has been a decent lower level G5 coach, but that's about it. Dooley hasn't been able to stick as an assistant anywhere. Now he is set to waste a lot of money running for Senator of Georgia.

I don't like where big time sports are anymore. Baseball teams building small stadiums because it makes more economic sense to be able to charge high prices due to scarcity and price elasticity. Used to a group of teenagers could go to the game with a few dollars in their pockets and it in the cheap seats.

Why does it bother you so bad? It was just opinion in the other threads but now it seems weird. Really really really and truly weird.

Cignetti has also come up with Mark Cuban and several million in NIL so he no longer has to beat the bushes like he did because that's not sustainable.

Yes, Cignetti did a fabulous job but he's not shopping at the thrift store personally nor at JMU for transfers anymore.

Not defending DW. It was an arrogant, childish thing to do. Just like many fans are arrogant and childish. No excuse for either. He's also human.

Some of you want the wine and cheese crowd to buy all of our players. Maybe catering to them is a good play.

AGAIN, I'm not defending him. I can't stand arrogance, but fans are the same with their know it all attitudes.

And again, Dooley was a bad hire, but how many of you experts knew a better coach wanted to come here?

And hes the only one. None of our fans care about themselves, families or money. Only winning championships in football. F errthang else.

Ive never met Danny, certainly not 4-5 times so Im not best buds with him. But I imagine his first priority when it comes to his job is paying the bills and his way and mine and yours might not be the same. That doesn't mean hes wrong.

We cannot allow the failures of the past to hold us in a purgatory of middling lukewarm success forever! What are we here for, if it isnt to try and win championships? I think after 5 years we have a clear picture of who this guy is. And once you have identified his ceiling and realize its not as high as you want for.your program, you cannot be afraid to fail while you are in the process of trying to find success! Florida may hire and fire 5 more buffoons while we hold onto Huepel. But I guarantee you they'll win another championship before we do, because they're not afraid to go through a lot of coal to find the diamond.

To do that you've got to ask donors to pay buyout after buyout AND to fund your NIL which will need to overpay to get guys to an unstable program.

That sounds like a plan for success?

What donor would enjoy being told "we're only going to keep him 4 years so we'll need about $15M or more to get him to leave and could you up your NIL about $10M because guys are uncertain about coming to the new coach...."

Magnificent formula for success, eh?

But that’s you. Families come and spend a whole day or weekend here. Families spend money. $$$ and lots of it. The men mostly care about the game. Myself I am 68 yrs old and have been coming since the 80s and also care about the game . I could stay home and watch the game on tv. BUT…. I’ve always told people that it’s just as much about the Whole Gameday experience including the fans, shopping , eating, lights ,music fireworks and the pageantry .I love it all ! The Neyland experience is going to bring more money. As far as atmosphere , after 45 years I still get excited pre game, tears at flyover and the chills as the team running through the T. Sometimes it’s more about the trip than the final destination. GO BIG ORANGE 🍊

Didn't we do that too from 2009 - 2020? Again, our record was 73-75 and we ended up on probation.

I don't think anyone ever said we didn't want championships, but putting your program in desperation mode, looking for the "diamond" can take awhile if the diamonds aren't interested.

It's not that far from the realm of possibility that maybe we just had a bad year. Go ahead though, flame away. Most of you know what's best for the program.
