Henry Ford and Brady Frederick were named Perfect Game preseason All-Americans. Ford was named to the first team while Frederick was named to the third team. Frederick is the former Knoxville Bearden product who transferred in from ETSU. Excited to see these guys and others in 5 weeks.
Very interesting. I don’t see Frederick as more than a midweek guy. I wonder if the angle holds up at that speed or if SEC opponents will figure it out. He’s coming in about 8mph slower than Causey.

He made a few of our batters look bad in the ETSU win last season
he was great over the course of the season, obviously
the bright side is nice
The definition of a junk pitcher. I hate ‘em if they’re yourin’, love them if they’re in our dug out. What was Kirby Connell, if not a nasty lefty junk pitcher? 😉🧡

That and….He had excellent control and was a student of the game. Definitely knew how to miss bats.

Also, Kirby Connell’s (aka Vollie Fingers) was incredible at fielding his position and was extremely athletic. (I saw him hit bombs over the porches during a HR Derby his final year, and I doubt he had taken any consistent batting practice in a minute). He only made one error his ENTIRE CAREER at UT. He was “cat like” jumping off the mound to cover first or field a bunt. Having a high leverage pitcher who is excellent on D is underrated. Frederick will need to improve in that department as his fielding percentage was .850 last year with 3 errors. Teams will take advantage of that in the late innings….
