Here’s the full list. Gotta say, I’m kind of shocked we’re that high. Super talented roster, but I thought losing Vitello would impact us regardless.

1st question - is #20 Clemson? That's an odd logo. Their paw print logo is wayyyy better. While I'm on logos, I've always loved that Miami old english M. Very nice looking.

Is anyone else surprised Vandy is that low?

I know we have a ton of talent, but like a lot of you, I'm surprised we're ranked as high as we are.

It's gonna sound cynical to say it was a "business decision" to rank us so high... but it kinda is.

Obviously Tennessee without Tony is going to be an early and ongoing story throughout the season. So if Tennessee performs well, then it's a story only Tennessee fans will want to click on. But if Tennessee slips in Elander's first year, lots of team's fans will relish clicking on those stories!

The business decision would be to pre-rank Tennessee according to their highest possible potential, so that any hint of a drop in the rankings becomes must-see click bait for all those Tennessee/Vitello-haters. The higher the preseason ranking, the more dramatic the fall (if it happens) and the more clicks those subsequent Tennessee stories will earn for the poll's publisher. It's just the most profitable angle to take.

Even if we go 14-0 before our first loss, the headline of that first loss will be some version of "Tony-less Tennessee Drops Game."

And some will want Elander fired.

Mighty Vanderbilt and Tennessee baseball have switched places in the world order thanks to Coach Tony Vitello.
I hate Vanderbilt as much as anyone, but I'm not sure that's fair. For them to truly fulfill my dream of actually switching places, I'd like them to be where we were for the decade prior to TV getting here. They're still a perennial contender, and that's too good for my liking.
