It seems, with some reported 7 million dollar offerings, that we are fast approaching a time when a QB will be offered as much or more than a team is paying their head coach. How silly do you predict college football will get before it resets/ collapses?

Not a chance at that as only the Big-Time schools can afford to pay a QB $4-5 million, and their coaches make $10-13 million plus incentives.

You mean like...what happens in every free market?

NFL rosters are worth 30x their HC.

Welcome back to reality coaches, administrators, and paper pushers...

Not sure how accurate this is, but it seems Manny Diaz at Duke may be making the same amount as Darian Mensah is-seemingly $4M a year, though I’m struggling to find a source beyond Wikipedia for Diaz's salary. Admittedly skeptical that he’s making that little. And apparently Joey Maguire is making $7M, can certainly see Texas Tech paying a QB more than that in the next few years, with how much they’re already spending for other positions.

Though, I doubt this is going to be a very common occurrence. Most non SEC, B1G, and Texas Tech programs cannot afford to sell the farm for a QB, and most of the programs that can will also break the bank for a coach if they have to.

The problem is they play in different markets and the coach''s market is muck smaller that player's market and their contracts are much more binding for the coaches, As to will play ever make as much athat happens.s coaches, probably until either Congress gets involved or the Courts start making rational decisions. It could be a long time before either of those occur.

It doesn’t have to collapse tho.

Rich people could just stop paying. But they won’t.
