As of now, have we gained or lost talent in the transfer portal?

Legitimate question. Thanks for asking. I have no idea. College football has become the "soap-opera" of sports primarily full of money-chasing drama kings/queens. I have more things to do than keep up with the talent tally. Yes, I clicked on this link as I go to VN for a mental break occasionally.

Hard to tell, but I think we have a considerable stronger defense than we have had the last two years, nd the offense, is unknown until we seen what happens at the QB position in the next 2 weeks. I think the overall team will be 2-3 games better in 2026.

I think that if you look at who we brought in compared to who left then you have to take into consideration that the PSU guys already know the defensive system. So in hand that gives them the hand up there. I also believe that those guys are very talented. Fundamentally speaking i hope that the new coaches can teach that here and that will go a long way in making all other guys better. Offensively i dont care how you look at it the QBs have no experience and that is scary in the SEC. The Oline is going to be huge and hopefully nasty. So i hope our run game is even better because we just need a QB to keep us ahead of the chains with a great ground game. If we can stay healthy and some young guys flourish then i think talent wise its over all an upgrade. But im still hopeful a QB comes along in the portal somewhere.

Defensively we have absolutely brought in more talent. There is a reason Martinez and Banks are gone along with a total overhaul of DB’s… defensive backs recruited by Martinez & Banks out of high school have been overwhelmingly so mid with maybe exception of 2-3, which is awful considering we just finished year 5. I feel like only hard hit on defense was losing Ross, he had lots of potential.

Offensively it’s TBD. For most part returning all our playmakers and picked up some linemen that hopefully pan out. Biggest question will be obviously QB going into next year and we won’t fully know what we have til it’s game time.

Lost about as many noteworthy players as we've gained. Half of the people we lost were either very replaceable depth, players that were never going to do anything here, or walk-ons.

According to on3 we have added average talent level if you believe their grading.

24 Average transfer out rating 72
12 incoming rated at 78

Difference made up in a new top 10 HS recruiting class 27 new fresh total.
I wonder what the average is when you only factor the top 12 transfers out.

Hopefully, we can beat a D1 team with a winning record.

I think our offense will be always be good under CJH. Even in the nico season, our offense was run heavy and we won 10 games. This season, with our stellar offense, we came up short in some close games bc of the defense. I say our new DC going out and getting the players he wants for his system in the portal is def more of a positive than a negative

Why oline? We have almost everyone back and added two transfers to compete for one spot

Good news, we have most everyone back

Bad news, we have most everyone back. Other than Moe, interior of line struggled at times against teams with a pulse, especially in the 2nd half of games...

I think the poster was hinting at upgrades on the interior and more SEC ready depth. I agree with that assessment....

We've gained. Not sure we've done enough to meaningfully close the talent gap between us and upper end of conference at this point.....
