we had 53 freshman and sophomores in 2025.

So far, we have 63 freshman and sophomores for 2026

we had 24 seniors and juniors in 2025

so far, we have 23 seniors and juniors with 9 of them new to our systems... inexperienced with our systems.

see who else we sign from the portal. we could go younger or older..

Looks like 12 of them are heading into a 3rd year so I would consider them “upperclassmen”. Also, the majority of the Juniors are redshirts so we essentially have 35 guys I would consider upperclassmen based on them going into their 3rd+ season.

Defense will be better, IMO. Hard to get worse. Might take another year for Knowles to get it dialed in, but still better than '25.

Offense. Be nice if Joey got another year. Start GMac, and you have a known quantity at #2. But I wouldn't bet on that, so have to try and find that "You're probably not going to start, but we might need you" option at QB. Tricky ground to navigate.

Special Teams. We upgraded at kicker, so...

S&C. This hire will be more important than QB3 in the long run. Absolutely have to get this one right.

So...more talented? No idea. Better on defense? Almost certainly. Better on offense? Should be good enough. ST? Yes. S&C? TBD.

The 2026 schedule, as they all will be moving forward, is tough. If we come out of the Bama game at 5-2 or better, that's a good sign.

Hope springs eternal. Defense wins championships.

Until the chaos of the money is regulated (or we get free of probation and can cheat like everyone else) college football is gonna be an old man's game. There's just too much physical-developmental difference between 20 yr olds and 26 yr olds for it to be otherwise.

experience wise, young. redshirting doesn't equal playing experience IMO..

Having a player at almost every position on defense already having a year in Knowles' system is certainly going to help with the transition. All of those guys have been talking about how they can help the other guys get up to speed in interviews.
