Coach Caldwell while being interviewed after the Alabama game (SEC sports announcers) in responding on the quality of her five freshman used the IF statement.

IF they are with us for four years they will all become special players.

many boarders like to speculate on which players will come out of the portal. now a revolving door.

Last year I remember one boarder was adament that he could read while watching a game on TV the body language of a player (still here)

Several years earlier a similar speculation on the body language of a freshman was correct and she transferred to Vanderbilt.

Yes I wish the rules were different and that now you could sign players as freshmen to four year binding contracts and the ones that didn't want to sign you would know you would have to replace. I think it is going to be hard to keep everyone we have for four seasons. I think it is going to be hard for any team going forward to keep players for four seasons. Just to many agents and double dealing going on and offers some players just can't turn down when they are having success on the court and others come calling.

Coach Caldwell wasn’t talking about players transferring. I mean she can’t use (will) stay with us because she doesn’t know the future which involves more factors that can transpire beyond the portal. She answered a basic question and directly pointed to them building together over their career which in college is 4 years. Actually that freshman back then that transferred was/ and still is not anywhere near the level of the 2025 freshman class (#2 overall) nor the incoming 2026 freshman class (#9 overall) in playing in this system in year 1.
It doesn’t have to become a story. Tennessee freshman play just as much if not more than just about all freshman on a ranked team. Each of the freshmen have a role on the team. These kids are focused on winning right now not the transfer portal.
