What time do y'all (in predicted ice storm areas) expect to lose your power?

I'm an hour south of Nashville, and from the latest forecasts, powerlines should be heavy enough to start failing before midnight Saturday, with another dozen hours of freezing rain yet to accumulate. Temps will continue to fall here into single digits Monday, with only a few brief peeks above freezing throughout the week.

I guess several million of us are about to find out to what extent we're addicted to our devices and internet.

A half-inch of ice supposedly adds 500lbs to the span of a power line between standard poles.

Yep, we’re probably all going to die tomorrow. No more volunteers to worry about. No more coonskin cap and a frozen smoky. Frozen to the ground with his tail, partially stuck up in the air as he was wagging it right before he froze to death. Nice knowing you guys. We could’ve had a good team next year. 16-0 but nope, we have an ice storm coming. That’s going to kill everyone on the planet. Just like the dinosaurs the first time around.

All media hype. World will go into a deep freeze. Wait ..........we are going into global warming and beach dwellers will all drown. We will have ice for 2 days and we don't have enough tuna fish cans and axx wipe so we clean out the stores. What's wrong with this picture? Fill the fridge, power goes out, food spoils fill the garbage can. Rant concluded"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Watch out for them 'sploding trees!

Anyone else remember when a common trope of b&w desert action movies was the novice who built the fire amidst exploding rocks?

I guess they all got shipped to the US, were domesticated, and became pet rocks.

Too pretty in summer—all 6 weeks of it—to go elsewhere, and too old to
put up with the bother of moving.

And I like the view.

I have lived there and I believe you. My last year there it snowed about the middle of September and I never saw the ground until the middle of May. Stayed snow covered.

Local TV weather prognosticators sure do get all worked up. Good entertainment.

I will be very surprised if this game is played on Monday. Oxford is supposed to be one of the hardest hit areas. Hate to see anyone put in harms way be safe with the kids please. I hate to not have the game but that's not as important as safety for all involved.
But when does TN travel? Once they leave, cancelling doesn't do anything good. Just adds a useless trip to their schedule, with maybe another later to squeeze the game in. As if we need that in February! If they don't cancel before travel, then play in an empty gym if necessary.

the concern is not only for getting to Oxford and playing the game, but also getting back to Knoxville by a time to play a game on Thursday.
The other question is with the volume of ice projected in Oxford, which is getting hit harder than Knoxville according to most models, is whether they will even have power to host a game. I don't mind them playing a game in front of no fans. I don't want them getting stuck there, and that prevents them from playing a home game. feels like other schools were more forward thinking by playing today though I am sure there is some logic behind the decision.

I've not seen any videos on Oxford but Arkansas is already snow covered and being able to travel once your there will be very difficult and hazardous.

The dinosaurs never became extinct. They just evolved into blue-haired creatures.
