AP Poll (Tide ahead of Vols, who are unranked)

More losses and we just beat them but they're ranked ahead of us....

Actually identical records overall and the conference. However, we beat them at their place and beat a mutual out of conference opponent. (Houston) it goes to show these rankings are bogus and those who vote are mostly lazy and ignorant to what is going on.

Geeesh guys, we finally played well against Bama otr. But, have we really earned some sort of ranking?
THE MATCHUP
• UT is 6-3 in the last nine series meetings, since 3/4/17. The Vols won the last four games after the Crimson Tide took the prior three.
• Ten of the series' last 12 games, including eight of the past nine, had a single-digit scoring margin.
• The Vols are seeking a third series winning streak of at least five in a row. The last was a nine-game stretch from 1/6/68 to 1/29/72.

KenPom gives Bama the #1 strongest schedule. The wins/losses aren't the same.
Besides, we just lost at home to Kentucky the game before. Let's not be ridiculous.
While I don’t really care about the rankings because there is a long way to go, our strength of schedule is brought down by several of our buy games. Gardner Webb, South Carolina State, and North Florida are literally 3 of the worst 25 teams out of 365. That brings us down. I know the staff tries to find strong mid-majors, but this year had some bad ones. If we just play 3 teams from 175-300, our schedule is probably better than 13, and those are still wins.

Bama has wins against St. John’s, Illinois, and Clemson, ours are against Houston and Louisville. Our SEC wins are better even though they beat UK.

Again, it’s no big deal to be, but the wins are pretty much the same.

no big deal. It seemed it took a few more losses than it should have to kick us out, and may take a few more wins to get us back on. Although, clearly, SOS in SEC isn't going to help anyone w/ SEC apparently way down...which probably means we'll kill it in the tourney.

I think so, yes, we do have some pretty nice wins. I don't keep up with these sorts of things, but do we have anything considered to be a bad loss? We've beaten Houston, Louisville, Bama, and Texas A & M.

No team has been perfect, and certainly We are still learning to play as a team, but it's not like we haven't had success against the best. Do we deserve to be top 10? No, but we've went toe to toe with some really good teams, and deserve top 20, IMO.

SEC is still very good. 10 in the KP top 40. Big 12 has 6. Big Ten has 9. The SEC just doesn’t have an elite team like the other 2. Most conference games will be a Q1 or Q2 game.
