Anyone listen to them talking about our DC this morning? Simon said his family wouldn't consider his son playing for Tim Banks but with JK, they are back in the conversation.

BOth spoke very negative about Banks and how soft the whole unit was under him. Said they had no identity and very predictable. Nothing earth shattering here, but I was a little surprised at the whole conversation.

Is Kevin Simon’s real name Kenneth? His son is named Kenneth Simon II

I got in trouble with a lot of posters by saying things like this since early on. I'm not sure about the soft part. I just don't have that insight. But predictable? Opponents might as well have been on UT's headsets.

Kevin Simon was a good ball player back in the day. Damn I feel old
He battled injuries and gave his all. He was a beast when he was healthy. I think he could have been in the conversation for beat Vol LB ever if he had a healthy career. Seems like at one point he was playing with a metal plate screwed into the top of his foot.

You were quick with concern and proved accurate. I saw his defensive ranking improve each season at PSU (?) and was confident in him as we witnessed the same pattern here.

In the end, a change was made and we upgraded. Looking forward to better play in the future.

I told you guys this last recruiting cycle as I had discussions with TN and Ga parents of safeties who weren’t considering UT while Banks was there. Same reason we had 4-5 safeties leave before last year.

Funny how nobody complained when the defense basically got us into the CFP in 2024 with a top 10 defense.
Had the horses back then. Going to have to recruit the horses now. We did a good job doing that this last recruiting cycle. We will get better and better each year until we have exactly who and what we want. Experience will be better because it will bar good experience.

There was a little bit of fools gold with that defense too. They were better than the 2025 defense, no doubt, but the 2024 defense played and looked good against a bunch of bad offenses.

Against the 2 best offenses they played (UGA and Ohio St), they couldn't stop anything.

"Tennessee allowed its fewest points per game (16.1) since 1998 and total (209) since 1999."
Lots of fools gold years?
