"I've grown up going to UT games, and it's always been a dream to play at Neyland Stadium," said Cope, who caught 69 passes for 1,336 yards and 19 touchdowns during his senior season at Eagleton, averaging 19.4 yards per reception. He said he informed Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel's staff of his decision "the week after I met with Coach Pope." Cope admitted that he "wanted to commit immediately" after learning of his offer from the Vols, but he "decided to take some time to talk it over with my family."

Tennessee's coaches, led by Pope, have let Cope know that they like what they have seen from him on film. He racked up more than 3,500 all-purpose yards during his three seasons at the varsity level. "(Pope) said he likes that I play with heart and I have the talent to play at the next level," Cope said. In addition to the gaudy numbers Cope posted on the football field, he has nearly 200 wins as a wrestler and has medaled twice at the state meet. He also has received all-district and all-region honors in baseball.

Dont the kids that would have gone to the old Everett high school go to Eagleton.
Would be shocked if that is the case. Think it is like a STEM Academy for the County but actually in Maryville along the dueling borders with Alcoa. Check out the interlocking maps! Crazy stuff. I live in Rockford which years ago annexed one lot deep along Old Knox highway to keep from getting absorbed by those two municipalities. The neighbor at the end of my short 7 house dead end street is in Rockford, I am still in the county.
