This thread is to discuss and share updates of former Vols that have left to other schools through the transfer portal.

Love em or hate em, they were once one of ours.

Some players left for greener pastures and some just didn’t have what it takes.

This X1,000. I don't want them to get hurt, but I don't want them to succeed on any level either. You're either a Vol or you're not.
These guys just wanted to play baseball. They weren’t getting the opportunities they would have liked at Tennessee. Everyone deserves a chance to better themselves. I wish them success unless we play them down the road.

To me, it depends on the situation.

Dalton Bargo was such a big part of our team the past 2 years and would’ve ended his career here had he got drafted like we all thought.

We filled his spot and he had to transfer. Don’t think everyone fits the case of “you’re either a vol or you’re not”

Most are completely ignorant of the situations surrounding the departure of each player. A) They'd have to care enough to learn the circumstances, and B) they would have to engage in nuanced thinking. The latter is painful for most. It's much easier to make blanket statements like "yer a Vawl er ya ain't!" than to deal with the discomfort of cognition.

I'm one of the few that has no hatred for Chase Burns. The guy did what he thought best for his career and from my point of view both teams won ... We won a National Championship and Chase was a top 3 pick in MLB draft. There were no guarantees that he would start here and Wake Forest gave him the opportunity...

Furthermore, Zander Sechrist admitted to one of our beat writers (Rucker or McKee?) that he would have transferred had Burns come back, because he wanted an opportunity to be a weekend starter. And while Zander was nowhere near the pro prospect that Chase was, there has never been a more clutch, big game pitcher on the college level than what we had in Zander. I daresay we don’t win the CWS if Chase comes back. I know that’s a big statement, but I firmly believe that we were better off with Zander that year.

I know that was beside your point, but I did want to mention that.

BS. Many are great young men who were recruited over or asked to leave, and would still be here if it was their choice. Move on if you don’t want to read about them.

Players that never got or got very little playing time, I have no qualms about transferring. The players who started or were playing almost every game, even if not starting, and transferred, I hope they stay healthy but dont succeed. I know I'm in the minority blah blah blah, but I dont care. Ill never wish any success for Chase Burns, he, imo, is the epitome of taking your ball and going home bc someone was a little mean to him. He was the most "ME" Player I've seen in a long time. Agree or disagree with me, degrade me all ya want, it won't change my opinion.

Bargo is a little different imo, he played his time here and didn't get drafted and just wanted to keep playing but the coaches already had him penciled out, so I understand his decision.

You have to know the full story on some of these guys. Some did not have a choice. They were told there would not be a place for them this season. They were actually helped to get a spot on other teams. That is what coaches are supposed to do. Be honest and helpful. I hope our coaching staff always does that. It is not fun but I hope we always are honest with players. Some times it is in recruiting and some times a player just does not progress like you thought they would.

I figured as much on those who had promise but never played except in a midweek blowout. The CF comes to mind, even though I can't think of his dang name, that everyone, EVERYONE, on here was super excited about and never panned out. Big Tall Kid. I was glad they could transfer to a lower school amd get playing time, thats what its about.
