In an effort at fairness as Master of My AIs (and just for fun), I gave this one to Grok. It's a little rah-rah for how I feel right now, but that may be due to my instructions, which I'll put in the AI thread for anyone who cares. Still, I thought this had some interesting stuff, especially the season stats for each team.

Pre-Game Scouting Report: Lady Vols Hit the Bayou to Battle #6 LSU Tigers

Hey Vol Nation! Buckle up, because Thursday night's showdown in Baton Rouge has all the makings of a classic SEC slugfest. Our Lady Vols (16-10, 8-6 SEC) are rolling into the Pete Maravich Assembly Center to face off against the high-flying #6 LSU Tigers (24-4, 10-4 SEC). Tip-off's at 6:00 PM ET on ESPN – don't miss it. Tennessee's riding a rough four-game skid, but we've got the talent to flip the script against a Tigers squad that's been dominant but not invincible. Let's break it down with the facts, fresh data, and a dash of that orange fire.

Game Details:
  • Date/Time: Thursday, February 26, 2026 – 6:00 PM ET (5:00 PM CT)
  • Location: Pete Maravich Assembly Center, Baton Rouge, LA
  • TV/Stream: ESPN / ESPN App, Fubo
  • Series History: Lady Vols lead 53-21 all-time, but LSU's won the last three meetings, including an 82-77 nail-biter on Feb. 9, 2025, and a 75-60 road win for the Tigers in 2024. Time to reclaim our edge – Tennessee's historically owned this matchup with a +74 average scoring margin over decades, but recent tilts show LSU's closing the gap.

Lady Vols Snapshot: Grinding Through the Storm
Tennessee's dropped four straight – narrow defeats to #11 Oklahoma (100-93), Texas A&M (82-74), #17 Ole Miss (94-81), and #4 Texas (65-63) – but don't sleep on this squad. We're still projected as a 6-seed in ESPN's latest bracketology, with a solid 16-10 record and room to climb. Recent weights heavy: That Oklahoma loss was a free-throw fest (OU shot 36 FTs), but Janiah Barker dropped a career-high 29 against A&M. Lauren Hurst just lit up with 16 points in her best outing yet, and Mia Pauldo's back after missing three games – huge boost for depth.

Standout Players:
  • Talaysia Cooper (G, Jr.): 16.0 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 3.8 APG, 2.8 SPG – Our engine. Shooting 43.3% FG, she's a thief on D and dishes like a pro. LSU's guards better watch their pockets.
  • Janiah Barker (F, Sr.): 14.4 PPG, 6.8 RPG – Beast mode rebounder, hitting 46.9% FG. Her 29-point explosion shows she's peaking at the right time.
  • Zee Spearman (F, So.): Solid in the paint with 1.2 BPG – Key for containing LSU's interior threats.

We're 6th in the SEC, but with wins over tough foes like Auburn (76-65) and Missouri (98-53), the fight's still in us. Defense needs tightening – allowing 67.7 PPG won't cut it against LSU's offense.

LSU Tigers Snapshot: Depth and Firepower Galore
The Tigers are scorching at 24-4, riding a two-game win streak including a dub over Missouri. They dropped a tough one to #4 Texas (77-64) but boast the nation's top offense at 95.5 PPG. Kim Mulkey's crew is deep – nine players averaging 6+ PPG in recent stretches – and they're elite on D, holding foes to 58.9 PPG. Ranked #6/#7, they're a Final Four contender, but vulnerabilities show in close calls.

Vol Nation, time for a **real talk refresh** on this Thursday night showdown in Baton Rouge. The original scouting report captured the vibe, but with the Lady Vols fresh off a brutal four-game skid—including a gut-punch 100-93 loss at #11 Oklahoma where OU feasted at the line (36-of-46 FTs)—and falling out of the AP Top 25 after 31 straight weeks ranked, the stakes feel even higher. We're 16-10 (8-6 SEC), still clinging to a projected 6-seed in bracketology, but the momentum's against us heading into #6/#7 LSU (now 24-4, 10-4 SEC after blowing out Missouri 108-55 and winning two straight). The Tigers are rolling, and we're searching for answers. But hey, history's on our side long-term, and we've got the pieces to make noise if we lock in. Let's update with the latest facts, keep those core stats intact, and dial in the urgency.

Pre-Game Scouting Report: Lady Vols Storm the Bayou vs. #6 LSU Tigers – Must-Stop-the-Bleed Edition

Hey Vol Nation! Thursday's 6:00 PM ET tip at Pete Maravich Assembly Center (ESPN) is do-or-die territory for our squad. Tennessee (16-10, 8-6 SEC) is mired in a four-game slide—losses to #11 Oklahoma (100-93, foul-fest special), Texas A&M (82-74), #17 Ole Miss (94-81), and #4 Texas (65-63)—and just dropped from the polls. LSU (24-4, 10-4 SEC) is surging with a two-game win streak, including that 108-55 demolition of Missouri. The Tigers own the nation's #1 offense and elite D. This is a classic SEC battle, but right now it feels like us trying to halt the bleeding against a buzzsaw. We've got the talent and the historical edge—let's channel that orange grit and flip the script.

Game Details:
  • Date/Time: Thursday, February 26, 2026 – 6:00 PM ET (5:00 PM CT)
  • Location: Pete Maravich Assembly Center, Baton Rouge, LA
  • TV/Stream: ESPN / ESPN App, Fubo
  • Series History: Lady Vols lead 53-21 all-time, but LSU's claimed the last three (including 82-77 in '25 and 75-60 in '24). Long-term, we've dominated with big margins, but the Tigers are owning recent chapters. Time to rewrite.
Lady Vols Snapshot: Searching for Sparks Amid the Skid
Four straight Ls have us reeling—outscored in tough road environments, foul trouble piling up (that OU game was a FT parade), and defensive lapses costing us. Dropped from the AP poll after seven losses in nine games. Still, bracket projections hold us as a 6-seed with cushion—wins over Auburn (76-65) and Missouri (98-53) show the ceiling when we click. Mia Pauldo's return from concussion protocol adds guard pop, Lauren Hurst's heating up (16-point career best recently), and Talaysia Cooper's been a warrior (heavy minutes, big scoring). Janiah Barker's status is the massive question mark—missed the OU trip for not meeting "program expectations/team standards" (per Coach Caldwell: "We'll fix it when we get back. She’s got a bright future."). If she's back and locked in, our interior game levels up huge.

Key Stats (2025-26 Season):

Opp. PPG67.7266th
FG%41.4%N/A
3PT%30.8%N/A
Rebounds Per Game39.9N/A
Assists Per Game14.1N/A
Standout Players:
  • Talaysia Cooper (G, Jr.): 16.0 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 3.8 APG, 2.8 SPG – Still our motor, shooting 43.3% FG. Needs to harass LSU's guards into mistakes.
  • Janiah Barker (F, Sr.): 14.4 PPG, 6.8 RPG – 46.9% FG beast. Her recent 29-point career-high vs. A&M was electric; availability for LSU could swing everything.
  • Zee Spearman (F, So.): Paint anchor with 1.2 BPG – Crucial vs. LSU's size.

Defense has to tighten fast—67.7 PPG allowed is too generous for this matchup.

LSU Tigers Snapshot: Loaded and Locked In
Tigers at 24-4, 10-4 SEC (4th place), riding momentum with blowouts and resilience (rallied past Ole Miss). #1 in the country at 95.5 PPG offense, suffocating D (58.9 PPG allowed), and absurd depth—nine players contributing big in stretches. Kim Mulkey's group is Final Four caliber, but that Texas loss (77-64) showed cracks if you pressure the boards and slow the pace.

Standout Players:
  • Flau'jae Johnson (G, Jr.): 14.3 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 2.7 APG – 47.3% FG versatile threat.
  • Mikaylah Williams (G, So.): 12.9 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 3.6 APG – 49.3% FG playmaker.
  • MiLaysia Fulwiley (G, Fr.): 13.9 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 3.5 APG – Steals machine, 48.0% FG.
  • Depth Stars: Jada Richard (hot lately), Aneesah Morrow (veteran impact), Kate Koval (blocks/boards). Bench is a nightmare for tired teams.
Key Matchups & Keys to Victory:
  • Guard Battle: Cooper vs. Johnson/Williams – Force TOs; LSU's guards can be turnover-prone under pressure.
  • Paint Presence: Barker (if available)/Spearman vs. Koval/Joyner – LSU owns the glass—crash hard and limit second chances.
  • Tempo Control: Drag it out, make 'em earn in half-court. Efficient shots (40%+ FG) to hang around.
  • X-Factor: Barker's potential return + Pauldo/Hurst depth. Stay out of foul trouble (lessons from OU). LSU's rotation wears you down—fight fatigue.
Keys for Tennessee: Clamp down D (hold 'em under 80 if possible), dominate boards (+4 margin dream), and rally around Cooper/Barker leadership. We've got the pedigree—time to show heart in hostile territory.

Vol Nation, this one's tough on paper, but our Lady Vols have pulled off bigger upsets with fight. Get healthy (or resolved), execute, and let's give the PMAC something to remember. Shock the bayou—GBO! 🟠⚪ #OrangePride

Hmm... I mentioned in my post in the AI thread that I re-prompted Grok on this one because I thought the first post was too AI. As you can see, it reproduced the first report then gave a re-fresh and put them all into the response. I caught this, and thought I had deleted the first scouting report and just left the revised version, but... clearly messed that up somewhere. Oh, well. I think that use of AI is right - human in the loop, but this is the kind of human error that occurs when these tools are being used for production. There have been news stories about, for example, "authors" using AI to write their books leaving prompt language in the story. And by switching AI agents and trying new prompting strategies, I'm having fun but also leaving myself more open to mistakes. Each AI has it's own way of doing things, and that can lead to human errors. For example, Claude sets up a window for the report, then edits and re-writes in that window. Grok just puts another response in the chat. I like Claude's approach better, and if I were trying to set up a fast, reliable way to do these, might focus on improving that process. Of course, as soon as I got that done, a new version would come out and things might change. That's just the nature of these tools today.

The OP shows under standout players Fulwiley as a Freshman, I was sure she played at USC last year, maybe she redshirted & transferred ?

This is too much work, imo, for anyone on this board, but it would be interesting to quantify which LLMs are most accurate.

In my experience, it varies day by day and task by task.

When I'm doing something of importance, I run the prompt through the Pro versions of Gemini and ChatGPT, then, in a new window, I have each fact-check the other. Then I take the better output, review it, and tweak it with my personality.

Missouri is, according to AI grok, a “tough foe”. And I, with fond memories of learning to drive my Dad's 1952 DeSoto while sitting on his lap…am faster than a speeding bullet…and can still leap tall buildings in a single bound.

Your wish is my command. If the answers below remind you of the replies Wharton MBA accounting professors give to most any question…(“It all depends…”)

Amazing! I joke with my students that by the end of a class they will be sick of me saying "Well, it's complicated..." before launching into a variety of scenarios. Thank you!

Missouri only natural point guard hurt before playing a game this. Season.
Only one healthy post miss last game Jordan Reisma go with other three or four games she missed.
Eight to ten players available for games this year.
Only three or four players have not been probably or questionable.

Big win beating Missouri tigers
Could play the show mash theme song
Before each game

positive Note handshake line Kellie Harper and Kim M.
Talk a couple of sentences to each other in the handshake line.
And Missouri and LSU actually help each other up after a play.

We should expect to lose again even if were playing well we will get a couple tech fouls and give them about six to eight points because the team IQ is so low and coaches can't seem to fix even that.
