I'm reading between the lines here, but it kind of sounds to me like Barnes is saying it's the nagging ankle injury he tweaked that kept him out last night. Could be both. Either way, hopefully it's not serious. Not having him out there down the stretch last night was a big deal.

“I think when he hurt his knee a little bit, but he did tweak his foot he had turned at Missouri, that ankle,” Rick Barnes said after the game. “He tried, and if he can’t go, he can’t go because there’s no one tougher than him.”

We’re in the tournament so maybe we should sit him this week.

You can't fault the effort of the team. Heck, look at the rebound difference.47-30. Just not having Ament out there was the main difference in why we faltered down the stretch.

I personally don't think it would've changed the outcome. With or without Nate, with or without JP, etc.... we can't close out games when we ever got a lead.

this is true we can't close out games. we also miss to many at the rim that would help the lead be bigger. We get more rebounds because we miss so many at the rim.

The way Nate folded up like a pretzel did not look like a nagging injury to me. Maybe that’s Barnes’s way of saying “rub some dirt on it” because nothing tore or broke?

No it’s his way of saying Ament had a foot/ankle issue from a week ago and the way his foot was caught reaggravated it.
He landed on a foot last game and had to sit out.

Sitting him will create questions for the committee as to whether he will even play in the tournament. Then we’re looking at a 9-10 seed instead of a 5-6.
This feels like a pretty huge stretch. I really doubt we’d drop that much over resting an injured player

I would sit him out also - there are some dirty players on Vanderbilt that would intentionally try and injury him ( not sure about SC )

I watched LaMont Paris when he was here at UTC. He has as much character and integrity as any coach in the college game. Doubt very seriously he has any designated thugs on his team

The SECT doesn’t matter, but we aren’t dropping to a 9 seed. That’s ridiculous.
Agreed. It absolutely matters if

sorry man, that was meant for the guy you were responding to. I was if saying Aments health is in question. If he plays and puts up 20 question answered.
