Scouted the Bama game tonite . The Mizzou matchup zone was effective for three quarters. Using man/women and in and out of a matchup zone would be most effective.......but I doubt that such a deviation in system is out of the question.
It would've been effective all season if we had installed it before the season started. We'll be predictable in the game so it will come down to if we can shoot well enough to out score them on field goal percentage and getting to the line. I don't expect us to be great defensively just hope the offense plays well enough.

Have we played zone all year?

Not in the half-court, a few of our press options could be construed as matchup zone or trapping with zone behind it. Half-court is straight man-to-man -- as it should be IMO -- we are not executing it well though.

Yeah, credit to Kelly and her staff for having a defensive plan against Alabama that proved effective for a good chunk of the game. Bama is one of those teams that typically feeds off one player’s hot shooting and energy, and yesterday that freshman gave them life.

It should be a great game tonight!

I hope the coaching staff and their players are all watching this tournament and sorry that they didn’t try harder to keep playing in it.

I would hate being a player trying to move up to the next level and realizing that I didn’t get to be in the spotlight because my team lost early.

If I were a head coach, I’d make every coach and player show up to watch the winners through the entire SEC and NCAA tournament. You don’t get a vacation for rolling over.

Well I have not watched them the last 2-3 games but from the results it doesn't seem to be working any better.
We have 3-4 “bigs” who just don’t have a lot of talent or desire. This is the primary problem with this year’s team. Have to face the facts. Two outstanding high school 🏫 layers coming in and the portal will be open soon. Just have to make sure to do a lot of research on who we need to sign.
