1. I don’t think anyone is more disappointed than CKC.
2.There’s usually a reason for players in the portal, money or baggage.
3. Freshman class is good but overrated, not a shooter in the class.
4. CKC has probably learned more about coaching this year than all her previous years. Let’s see what she changes next season.
5. It’s okay to play a few possessions of zone. Could have a huge back line with Latham, Zee and Barker all on long and lanky.
6.It’s wrong to play someone just to keep them out of the portal.
7. Kim needs to take charge in the huddle.

Next season I hope all transfers are fully vetted and we recruit some shooters.
Dont over schedule and OOC games, dang the SEC is a gauntlet.

All totally true and being able to define the needs of a team and then coach the team to be more than one dimensional is what she is needing to do next season. I am not confident she can do it, but she is our coach and hopefully most will support her if she can assemble a team that meets every specific need of SEC play.

What are you talking about? There’s no way whatsoever to make this freshmen class the scapegoat for a gimmick system.
They shouldn’t be taking 3s like they are layups anyway.
And if Coach Caldwell could or would neither in this scenario is better than the other actually teach/coach a half/court offense then our young players could thrive.
Lauren Hurst and Mia Pauldo can absolutely shoot the basketball.
They take too many 3s and this team isn’t coached to play fundamentally sound basketball at all.
Slow the game down and I’m confident in the players that the results would be different. Nothing is overrated about the freshmen class bottom line.

I’m pretty sure 3.) was thrown in there just to troll you. As I’ve referenced before, checkers.

8. Fans can make this easier for CKC, or they can make it harder. It's up to them to choose. And no, I'm not telling anyone what to choose. I'm just echoing what I heard Pancratz and Peterson say on the Sports Source. They've been through it, so I listen to 'em.

👆. Hence, it’s the system. She has the resources (NIL), proven SEC assistants, and top notch facilities. Has the roster to compete that fit more of a traditional basketball system as opposed to this gimmick style of play which she refuses to change.
She has everything a coach needs to be highly competitive but values nothing over the idea of this unorthodox system.

Gonna disagree with the OP on #3 and #5. Hurst can shoot the 3, and I believe both Pauldos will finish their careers above 33%. I am a proud zone defense hater, as was Pat Summitt.

"I am stubborn in principles, on and off the court. Couldn’t tell you where that is derived from, but aspects of the game like going zone or gimmicky styles of play are not in my repertoire." -Pat Summitt (Sum It Up: Introducing Pat Summitt)

The players recruited for this year were sold a bill of goods: “We had pretty good success with our system last year and we had mostly hold-over players that didn't fit. We're now adding the right players – and you could be one! Help take us to the top.” The recruited players were perhaps dubious about playing time and game style, but the NIL was good so they figured they'd take a chance.

Here's what they have found out: The system doesn't work against good teams. It didn't allow for their individual talents to be effectively utilized or showcased. Their individual skills weren't developed nor were their weaknesses addressed. Their head coach had a “my way or the highway”approach and an “if we're not doing well it's the players' fault” attitude that turned many of their teammates off.

The “shine” is definitely off the system. It will be harder to sell the Brooklyn Bridge to recruits this year. Kim can't very well say that “Yeah, I screwed up last year and got the wrong players. But this year we'll make my system work.”

She can come clean, drop the “system”and all its gimmickry, be honest with her current players and recruits, and go forward. Or she can stay with the system and hope that the LV fans will accept early season wins against the creampuffs and a middle of the pack finish in the SEC. It's hard to see it getting worse than this year, but it's hard to see it getting a lot better.

I think Lauren Hurst can play. But it looks like she is not suppose to shoot. They shoot way too many 3s. And their press gives up way too many lay ups. Looks like the coach has not done anything to fix it from last year. If you can not fix it, then stop pressing. This style of play is not working. You probably going to see a few players leave this off season.

Will the real Kim Caldwell please stand up. 1st year with some hold overs and new players from portal she took a more mature team that was not as athletic as this years teams and was minutes from Elite 8 in which if they get there they would have beaten Tcu how close to final 4 and she did it her way completely. 2nd year team more athletic but much more immature even in its upper classman some were completely babies and quit on there team and this fanbase and cashed there checks. Now Knox like Us says its only system fault and many others but if that's true then last years team goes out against Oh St in round of 32. No doubt a young passionate coach has learned some hard lessons and also knows some tweaks need to be made. So I for one will support this Coach and her team next year and let's see what growth she makes and the players who will stay with her and the players she brings in. Sometimes when a season like this happens Pressure can make diamonds. We will see. In CHRIST Alone

The pressers and the in game actions are beginning to make sense.

"You know what I told you to do, now do it." But when they aren't doing it, you gotta get in their ear, in their space, figure it out. I would be more on board with the "toxic" players had I seen some of them start sitting for long periods of time or not get put into rotation. But during this struggle, everyone has been playing. Until this last game we didn't see anyone sitting for a long period of time.

There has to be a complete come to Jesus, overhaul for things to get right. Of course I prefer a Pat, type A, get in your face, grit those teeth type of coach. But I'd be ok if I saw any talking and coaching during a game, especially when you are LOSING.

Go Lady Vols....still bleeding...orange.

I agreed 100% until the end… I don’t see any point in saying you will probably see players leave. That’s the purpose of the portal. Players leave and you recruit their replacement.
Tennessee needs to have some players leave. So that is not an issue.
