UT is represented by Donde Plowman. Clay Travis is there too.

When Donde was selected Chancellor there was an Alumni reception at the Read House that we attended. I alked to her for about 3 minutes. Walked over to Margie and said ," i dnot know what "it," is but she sure as hell has it in spades.

Please explain.
It's a problem Congress needs to fix, not the President. The SCOTUS told the NCAA to get Congress to amend the Sherman Act to allow them to govern college athletics.

There's nothing wrong with the meeting but there's also nothing substantial to be gained by it.

Political theater.

So you want Congress to " fix" things? Get a clue.

Congress is the one that can modify the Sherman Act and fix it so yeah, I do.

The President can't fix it. He cannot change the law and make an Antitrust Exemption so the NCAA can control NIL, transfers, etc.

Despite Congress being useless, that's how America works. So, again, there's nothing wrong with the meeting but Trump isn't in a place to fix the problem.

You don't have to trust me. The Supreme Court in the Alston decision that started all this mess did not tell the NCAA to go to the President for help.
They specifically said to get Congress to help them get an Antitrust Exemption.

If the President was an option, they would have pointed that out because they DO know what the legal issue is for the NCAA since they ruled on it.

The President isn't King and cannot just make or change laws. Perhaps he can encourage Congress but this isn't being fixed without Congress giving the NCAA legal protection.

The President cannot do that.

Nobody says Trump is "king"...except his detractors. He's trying to assemble people like Saban, Plowman & others familiar with college sports who can address the issues. Congress has a lousy track record, especially the current mob.

Congress has already talked to Saban and others in hearings and proposed the SCORE Act which couldn't get close to passing.

If the meeting gets the President to lean on Congress to pass a law that helps, fine.... great actually.

As it is, though, meeting with the President cannot change things. The law needs to change and Congress makes and changes laws.

Hope you can live with that. I've about written of college sports after 7 decades of following. Enjoy the ride.

I can live with how America has worked for 270+ years. It's done okay.

Congress does suck and should've passed SCORE or something like it and maybe Trump can get to them and support something they will pass.

The meeting, however, is just theater. The President cannot fix this.

Ever heard of the 'Bully Pulpit'? Ever heard of 'jawboning'? This president can absolutely effect changes. He runs the Republican Party, which is currently in control. Not only that, many in the Democrat Party are interested in getting this junk fixed, so there will eventually be a bipartisan solution. It will be fixed within the next two years, I predict. Either collective bargaining or an anti-trust exemption.

Well, the GOP, I believe, had the SCORE Act and couldn't get it out of committee or very far themselves, so there's that.

Sure, Trump is a force of nature and usually for good but it's not his place, as he's claiming, to use an Executive Order to fix things. That'll get struck down in court as Presidents don't make laws. It has zero chance to stand IMO.

I'm not anti-Trump by any means but there are ways to do things and if the Bully Pulpit works to get Congress off their butts, great, but they're useless, especially useless in the last decade or so.

Nothing was said about an Executive Order. The roundtable was organized today to bring leaders and influencers together to try and build consensus to get college sports fixed. The first thing agreed upon today was the portal is the biggest problem. That's a great starting point.
