KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – No. 19 Tennessee closes out a six-game homestand on Tuesday evening against Tennessee Tech in its final contest before SEC play begins this weekend.
The Volunteers are coming off a successful 4-1 week that included an impressive midweek victory over ETSU and a series win over Wright State.
Fans can also listen to the Voice of Tennessee Baseball John Wilkerson and Vince Ferrara call the action via a free audio stream on UTSports.com, the Tennessee Athletics App and the Varsity App.
Overall: UT leads, 74-32-1
in Knoxville: UT leads, 49-13
in Cookeville: UT leads, 25-18-1
at Neutral Sites: TTU leads, 1-0
Last Meeting: April 1, 2025 (W, 7-1 in Knoxville)
The Vols have won back-to-back straight in the series by a combined score of 18-2 after dropping two in a row to the Golden Eagles in 2022 and 2023.
Tennessee has been exceptional in close games so far this season, having posted a 5-1 record in contests decided by two runs or less. The Big Orange posted a pair of one-run victories over the weekend against Wright State after winning back-to-back games against Arizona State and Virginia Tech by two runs the previous weekend.
Vols vs. In-State Foes
The Vols have had plenty of success against in-state programs during now head coach Josh Elander's time on the coaching staff. During Elander's eight seasons as an assistant/associate head coach and now skipper for the Vols, they are 47-19 overall against in-state opponents, which includes a 5-3 record against Tennessee Tech.
Continuing Midweek Success
The Big Orange have been dominant in midweek games since Elander joined the staff in 2018, having compiled an 81-11 record in such contests during that span. Tennessee is off to a 4-0 start in midweeks this season after downing ETSU and Oakland last week.
Wright Providing Spark to the Lineup
Junior catcher/outfielder Garrett Wright provided a major boost to Tennessee's lineup during his first week of action after returning from injury. The Bowling Green transfer led the Vols with a .462 batting average last week and was also hit by four pitches over four games to bring his career total to 53.
