Probably the weakest team we have had in a while.

We’ve had flashes where we look like a top 5 team in the country. And then we have our typical offensive woes.

I just said it another post, but having Cameron Carr at 2 and Tobe Awaka at PF would have this team in completely different position.

I still think we can run, but I’m definitely thinking our ceiling is probably a sweet 16 again.

We should make it thru the first weekend but won’t be surprised if we lose anywhere including the final. Very inconsistent team.

Ha! I started a thread back in December about how this team sure could use Carr and Awaka and several geniuses on here mocked me and totally downplayed their transfers.

Pretty sure I’ve been proven right.

OP is correct because this is a very average team, I’d equate it to being about as good as the football team this past fall.

For the nth time, Carr went to play for an NIT team after ditching on his teammates midseason. He quit on them.
Id never take a quitter to go to battle next to me. Why? Because they will quit in the middle of it and leave you hanging like Carr did.
The support he gets over our players is ridiculous.
You aren’t being proven right. You are proving you like a quitter.

I hope they prove me wrong in the ncaa tourney.

They won’t. I do not understand how Carey and Brown can be so inept at scoring within 5 feet of the basket. Outside of Gillespie and Ament, guard play has been pretty atrocious offensively. I would blame underperforming players but this is Barnes MO and it’s never going to change or work in terms of a FF or championship

I love Boswell's tenacity but just like yesterday.... he shoves himself into the paint next to two defenders and has zero plans on what to do once he got there! Mr. Carey, Five missed free throws in a row in the first half. Brown has done well with a turn around jumper just inside the free throw line several times this year.... just need him to break out of his shell

I don’t think most were downplaying their transfers. Most were not saying they were “no big deal” in terms of losses. Both of these guys were total surprises to Barnes, and there was nothing else that could have been done to retain them.

Furthermore, your statement that this is “a very average team” is ridiculous, nonsensical, and totally wrong. There’s nothing, zilch, that makes you “proven right” in any of your statements. The narcissistic trolls within these threads that try to rearrange reality by flat out fabrication is fascinating, and it’s sad. Step back, be willing to assimilate things in a logical way, and then comment. My goodness, you don’t have to like the losses, but trying to “be right” by spewing some of this stuff really makes you look silly.

Over the course of the season, we have looked more like the later than the former. Earlier in the year we looked like a good team.

I agree with this. An experienced solid 4 man. A scorer at the two guard.

I still think we can run, but I’m definitely thinking our ceiling is probably a sweet 16 again.

That would be an over achievement.

We probably shouldn't make it out of the first weekend if the seedings hold. This team will be a 5 or 6. I'd almost rather be a 6 because of the jinx of the 5/12 matchup. The 12 is almost always a good team from a lesser conference. Let's say we are the 6 seed. After beating an 11 seed we would more than likely face a 3 seed. According to bracketology right now that's Illinois, Nebraska, Alabama, and Gonzaga. Nebraska surprises me. Based on history we're not beating much better teams.

Any mention of the finals is a pipedream.

The reason they lead the nation in offense rebounds is because they miss so many shots. They rarely score with a second and third chance off the rebounds either. Very hard to watch. How Barnes keeps from having a stroke is beyond me.

Probably some of the same ones doing the preseason happy dance shuffle because we had a lot of names on the roster at the post spot, then nominated Ament as the default savior.

It's somewhat puzzling with Awaka. He could've been a starter here. Is Arizona paying a backup starter money?

We beat Bama decisively and let them win one we shouldn’t have in Knoxville. Illinois we had beat too. Nebraska we would probably throttle and Gonzaga isn’t great either. I think we’d beat any of those teams tbh.

They’re about as good on the basketball court as the football team was on the field. Sorry, but whether you like it or not that’s average.

Well what happens next week when it counts the most. My guess is we’ll be done the first weekend.

He was injured and Barnes admitted that he didn’t know what was going on with him. Sounded like he went somewhere to be valued. Each action agrees with the other.

At the time I thought it was the best for all parties. After seeing us struggle at the guard position for the first time in 5 years, I’m thinking it would have been better to try to keep Carr.
