The Vols were in helmets, shoulder pads and jerseys after being in just helmets the first two days.
Tennessee is hosting a bevy of recruiting targets on campus this morning for practice and meetings. Prospects such as Kennedy Brown, Casey Barner, Eric McFarland, Jermaine Cobb, Nash Johnson and Kadin Fife – among others.
David Sanders had the rep of the day while we were out there and you can see it as the first highlight in our package this morning. That’s what you want to see from your star offensive tackle. Sanders won three-straight reps in one-on-ones. He beat Christian Gass twice, who is notably about 20 pounds heavier.
Transfer offensive tackle Ory Williams had two really strong reps in one-on-ones. Sanders and Williams had a lot of intensity – again – love to see that from (potentially) you starting tackle duo.
Justin Baker appears to have taken some steps in the right direction. It is a big spring for him.
Tight ends began the day on the blocking sled. Ethan Davis continues to lead that group. Transfer Trent Thomas had a couple of good reps and was receiving praise from Alec Abeln.
Some offensive linemen were doing combo blocks on the two-man blocking sled. Jesse Perry and Sham Umarov about turned the thing over with their explosiveness.
ll three Tennessee quarterbacks were accurate with the football. George MacIntyre looked the best but again, they were all accurate with the short passes. Faizon Brandon received some praise from Joey Halzle after a rep.

Left tackle David Sanders Jr. was an obvious standout. The sophomore won his rep against redshirt freshman LEO Christian Gass, who actually held his ground decently well despite the size difference – Gass is up 20 pounds from last season to 237. Sanders then put Mike Bethea II into the turf with a violent rep and was fired up afterward, using some colorful language to outline his plans for the upcoming season.
LSU transfer Ory Williams got reps at both tackle spots and had a good block against Bethea, after which Sanders came over to congratulate him.
Defensive end Carson Gentle had a couple of good reps against Jesse Perry, who took reps at multiple positions with multiple groups. The group of Nathan Robinson, Daevin Hobbs and Ethan Utley were fired up after an Isaiah Campbell rep. Freshman defensive lineman Carter Gooden showed good hand technique on a rep with redshirt freshman center Nic Moore.
Routes on air were off-limits for video, and with the competitiveness of the one-on-one drills with the lines, that was where the attention went. The quarterbacks threw some passing to the wide receivers and tight ends after going through their pocket-movement drills.
Ethan Davis is carrying himself as the leader of that group by leading the lines in drills. Sophomore DaSaahn Brame and redshirt sophomore Cole Harrison are next in line ahead of the two newcomers – South Alabama transfer Trent Thomas and freshman Luca Wolf. UT Martin transfer Drake Martinez was not out there while we were there.
Sophomore Jadon Perlotte slipped going through the bags on one rep and didn’t have his feet right as he got to Inge. The veteran assistant coach had an annoyed reaction and told Perlotte how he needed to correct it. On his next rep, Perlotte got it right and Inge praised him for it.

I like to see the big boys work. It warms my fatboy heart.

It's interesting to me that QBs and routes on air are off limits to video on day 3 of Spring. It's not like much could be installed and seeing a few drops/missed routes wouldn't be an issue on day 3 of Spring for even the biggest pearl clutching fans. Any thoughts on that?

GBO!!!! I like Sanders drive, building leaders at both tackles. I feel very optimistic that this team is going to fight and battle hard. I think we have lots of talented players that are hungry to prove how good they are and they are willing to put in the work. But they have to continue grinding and keep improving. GBO!!!!

You gotta love seeing the nastiness Sanders is bringing to the field! He's a bonafide 1st rd maybe even top 10 pick.Thats predicated on him playing up to the potential he and we all believe he possesses.

That clip doesnt show u much but shows u enuff if that makes sense lol but from all accounts hes come in ready to make a name for himself!!Assuming G-Mac wins the qb job,the Oline is gonna have to keep him from turning to dust so they'll be paramount to our success this year!

After looking at the offensive line above I went and looked at the roster: https://utsports.com/sports/football/roster I can not recall seeing this many guys this size in orange. It may not really matter who we have at QB. With these monsters paving the way we should be able to run over most teams.
