I feel like the receivers last year dropped too many passes, especially during critical downs. Based on what we know now, do you think this years group will do better or is it "who knows"?

We better. Mike Matthews took a big step last year from where he was but he also had some really bad drops. Staley was pretty consistent most of the year with the exception of the Mississippi State game. I can’t remember if it was Travis Smith or Rad Jackson but no one talks about the wide open drop he had over the middle in OT against Georgia that would have been a first down. Our receivers were the epitome of either making the greatest play you’ve ever seen or making the most head scratching play you have ever seen

Also I can’t remember if it was the Kentucky or OU game but we had the most drops in the SEC after one of those games and probably at the end of the season for that matter

Don’t remind me I don’t want to think about that godawful playcall in the OU game
I liked the play call.. hit the dude in the face. Would’ve been a first down.
Even though it was a freshman- If you’re good enough to play ball in the sec you should catch a ball that hits you in the face.
Why didn’t you like the call? If he makes a routine catch the drive keeps rolling.

Think players not plays. Play call itself was good, but we should have designed that play for someone else. It was a lesson Nick Saban (as much as I hate him) learned very early in his career you gotta think of players and manipulate the game so you create a matchup that is beneficial to you.

According to newswires, Coach Heupel is requiring all Univ of Tennessee Wide Receivers this Fall to have their entire uniforms covered in a fresh can of StickUm. Gorilla Glue has made new Gorilla Glue Gloves and will be standard issue as well for anyone who might have the pigskin thrown in their general direction. (blue for gullable)

Yeah, that’s how I knew Ryan Williams was overrated in 2024, he led the SEC in drops in ā€˜24
Do you know he was once 17 years old? Kirk Herbstreit says he was 17 years old. Chris Fowler also says he was 17 years old. ESPN ran a 30 for 30 about him being 17 years old. He was 17 years old, did you know that?

Did I mention he was 17 years old? Let’s forget that fact that this 17 year old led the sec in drops. Did you know the guy who had that one amazing game against Georgia was 17 years old. Did you know that

Hopefully the WRa take the Jalin Hyatt philosophy. Realize you need to work on catching the ball, take responsibility and make yourself better.
Our wide receivers make me feel better about our quarterback situation. We didn’t have all-conference receivers to make up for Nico’s awful throws and decision making, but this year we do.
