In sports there are special situations and circumstances where everything—for whatever reason—fits perfectly. Right coach, right time, right players, excited fan base, and an organic swagger that’s special and leads to significant winning as well as an unparalleled pride in what’s been created. That’s exactly what happened with Vitello at Tennessee. Hell, he knew what was going on here and it‘s what made moving on to an MLB manager difficult whereas in most cases it’s a gimme decision. Unfortunately, he despised our AD and that more than anything pushed him out the door.

What went with him? The swagger and TN being a national power in baseball. As BB King so eloquently sang, “The Thrill is Gone”.

You guys can discuss the current coach and team all you wish, but the truth is it’s not going to be the same and it may not ever be. That’s why Danny White failed us all in not doing EVERYTHING possible to keep Vitello here.

I’m sure some of you were push back, but in your heart you know I’m speaking the truth.

Would you please give real evidence that TV hates DW? I mean have you heard him say it?

Anybody that would keep a college job when he had a chance at an MLB job would be a fool. This aint on Danny.
The lack of intellect by some TN fans is concerning. Tony didn’t leave b/c of AD White. Idk if he liked or disliked White, but he left b/c of an opportunity to be a coach in big leagues. Period! Nothing about White. The rumors that ran wild regarding NIL are laughable.

I 100% believe that CTV and DW did NOT get along. In fact, I believe there was mutual dislike for each other. However, CTV was given a tremendous budget for recruiting and NIL, a $105M stadium renovation, a huge raise, and increased funds for his Assistants. Objectively speaking, DW gave CTV all the resources necessary to compete for championships. Then, the Giants came calling and now he’s in San Fran.

Big egos clash in big business all the time. Two things can be true at the same time.…

Someone has to.

E wanted the job, former players wanted him to have the job, and current players wanted him to have the job.

It’s up to E and this team now.

Can actually be a good thing… until it isn’t. Hard for those types of relationships to extend into retirement, though. I think they were at a place of coexistence and that would have conceivably extended into the future just fine. Posey had other sights set.

Someone had to step up for next. I think Josh will be good for this next era of BaseVols. Imma bet we lose another game or two this year… and the unruly mob gets louder. Phuqq ‘em.

I was hoping brocky top would stay banished to a closed forum… guess not.
Oh ok. Thought you were referring to my response. I’m not an insider- don’t claim to be. But, I have a friend who works @ Spyre. So he knows about NIL, contracts, coaches, etc.

I won’t say there was a love loss b/t Danny white and TV, but white wasn’t the reason TV left. White allowed TV to play a big part in the stadium renovations. And, Tony was involved w/ NIL too.
