Back when we hired Harper.....I begged for us to hire Kara Lawson. People here mocked me....told me she wasn't ready....etc etc. Well let's revisit that now. How many of you would take her over what we HAD and what we HAVE? She's a born leader....a solid recruiter....and a class act. She's winning coach of the year, conference titles, and making strides in the tournament. How I wish we had her on Rocky Top.

Count me as someone who didn't see the rationale of hiring Lawson at that point in her career. Kara hadn't coached anywhere, period. Think about that. Brilliant mind? Name recognition? Terrific broadcaster? LVFL? Yes to all of these. But to be the HC of the LVs after Holly would have been a major gamble that had no guarantee of working out.

Harper was a safe hire but everyone had hope. Caldwell was a big gamble that, for now, hasn't paid off and isn't trending positively. Lawson has put Duke back in the conversation among the nation's elite. She deserves her pats on the back, and it looks as though they will crack a FF sooner than the LVs will.

Some gambles pay off and some don't.

I just know her and could see her success coming. She is the closest to a Pat clone as there is in the LV family. She will be home at some point I know folks say that she is building her own at Duke but when this program hits rock bottom she will come save it to save Coach Summits legacy promise you that..
