Jourdan Thomas named Tennessee football’s 17th Torchbearer
Thomas remained key part of Volunteer program after suffering career-ending injury in 2024
It was the third day of Fall camp in 2024. Jourdan Thomas was supposed to be a starter in the Tennessee secondary. That day changed the trajectory of Thomas’s career and life.
Thomas tore his ACL/LCL/PCL, his hamstring tore off the bone, and he suffered nerve damage in his leg. It was the final play of his football career.
Since then, Thomas has become a pillar in the Knoxville community and has continued to pour into his teammates as a student assistant. Monday served as a full-circle moment on his journey, becoming the 17th Tennessee football player to be named a Torchbearer, the highest undergraduate honor at the University of Tennessee.
