Looks like a long season ahead.

One season with a young team. The sky is falling and Elander sucks. I’d fire him now and start the search. Start with LSU’s coach, they are sucking too.

Since this has been brought up lets just look at some cold hard facts. This is to the forum starter. We have one senior in the starting lineup. Most of the guys we do have playing have lots and lots of talent but are extremely young. Our coach although i love the guy has no head coaching experience. But i see him congratulating and giving his guys every bit of encouragement and not bringing them down. If you thought this was going to be anything like the past few years you obviously arent that informed on the situation over there. Yes the last several games were tough. But in most of those games we should have or could won. This isnt a case of the coach is in over his head like i have seen so many post. This is a case where we just dont have enough bats that are coming through at the right time. I also think that it comes down to that experience thing again. I cant imagine sitting in the dugout for a season hardly playing and then be expected to be the dude to lead the way with hits and homeruns. So my advice is dont expect to much this season. Enjoy the ride and know that these dudes are mostly going to be back next year with more talent and some fresh dudes out of the portal next year. Go Vols lets take game three to these LSU Terds.

As I have said before this is young team with a relatively new coaching staff and I expected them to struggle this year. I just wanted them to improve as the season went on and I think we are starting to see that.

Moving Mack to Friday was a good move that should have resulted in a win and the pitching yesterday was again outstanding so hopefully the pitching is taking a step in the right direction. My concern all season has been the hitting with RISP and ultimately that is what got us Friday night.

Yep- also only playing 2 juniors in the regular lineup. We have 8 freshman and sophomores as weekly starters (not including pitching).

Elander does need to get the feel on the pitching side- that’s never been his focus in the past as a hitting coach and takes time/changes with each team.. we’re going to be alright. Do need more guys hitting with contact though - only a few players hitting over .300
