Do you think it’s just a young roster or just poorly assembled? I’m sure JE thought guys like Abernathy and Newstrom would be producing better.I’ve met Coach Elander and he’s a class act. This roster is 167th in the country and 13th in SEC in Returning Production. They are young and inexperienced. Think how much Burke, Moore, Ensley, Tears, etc improved from their sophomore to junior years. I will continue to support E and appreciate that he acknowledges that he needs to also improve as a head coach. He’s a first year head coach and has lots of room for improvement. I always thought 2026 was going to be a challenging year, but admittedly these Sunday debacles have been gut wrenching.
You need more Juniors and a few a Seniors to compete at a high level. Most of the elite former Vols didn’t light it up their Sophomore years either. The lack of continuity on the pitching staff hasn’t helped either. I would have liked to have seen Loy, Sherman, Sharp,Wiggins, etc back for another year of development.Do you think it’s just a young roster or just poorly assembled? What this fella said! Young team. Coach Elander was basically picked by the team. And given the timing of CTV leaving, that was best case. Yeah, growing pains. Losing in late innings suck. However, the team is going to grow and learn. Let's all be patient.I’ve met Coach Elander and he’s a class act. This roster is 167th in the country and 13th in SEC in Returning Production. LSU this year isn’t ranked and won’t sniff an NC. If what you saw today and Friday night was no shame then our standards as a program have cratered.I’m confident that CJE knows what it’s supposed to look like.
Maybe if Frank was here things might be different in the pen, dude was a legend before he got here and he cemented that legend here.
Of course, replacing CTV is impossible and the fire and attitude may not be CJE’s personality.
I don’t remember which guy he yanked after a 1 pitch appearance but it tells me he can put his foot down. The postgame, he said all the right things.
We just played the defending NC’s. There’s no shame in that one, and I think the staff will figure this out, but the players have some culpability too.
The grind continues and it isn’t gonna get any easier. They feel worse than we do and they didn’t come here to get shellacked. They also didn’t get here without the potential to compete at this level. I have faith but there needs to be a sense of urgency.
GBO!!!
LSU wasn’t the best team in the nation nor the conference and still won last year’s championship.LSU this year isn’t ranked and won’t sniff an NC. If what you saw today and Friday night was no shame then our standards as a program have cratered.
The stats are beyond horrendous. In a year where Elander said it was a major focus to do better on Sundays we’ve now blown a 5-run lead to UGA, a 15-10 lead to Vandy and a 5-0 lead to LSU. The past 2 Sundays we’ve have given up 32 runs…to two unranked teams. Our bullpen today in 5 innings gave up 15 hits (almost as much as many hits as we had on the weekend) and 14 earned runs
Abernathy hitting .077 in SEC play. We’ve got to find someone at 2nd who can hit. I thinking we see Newstrom back in the lineup. This team's hitting is absolutely wretched, especially when compared to the past four years. The most glaring difference is the comparative absence of any power from the hitters. I also see a lot of swing-and-miss from pitches way out of the strike zone.
That being said, Elander is going to be given a chance to mold this team in his image. Let's hope there is marked improvement going forward.
There you go again with your sensible posts. Are you practicing your smoke signals?I’m confident that CJE knows what it’s supposed to look like.

I'm just going to add to this....all those fellas wear orange.....they're the ones that put time in training, lifting, batting cage....all that stuff. I just got to play in high school. Point is, they don't need some arm chair manager putting crap up on a message board. They're putting in the sweat and blood. They're plenty talented enough, or else they wouldn'tbe here. But, when you're in the SEC, you might as well be playing minor league ball. Ain't easy. Give these fellas some grace. What this fella said! Young team. Coach Elander was basically picked by the team. You did notice how young LSU’s roster was didn’t you. LSU is not a really good team. Their pitching isn’t great.I am not ready to give up on Josh just yet. He is a young coach with a young roster that was always a recipe for disaster so I am withholding judgment until I see how we finish the season and how he recruits this offseason.
