Was Majors done wrong?

Came across this video and looking back, wondered if he was done wrong. Seems at that time, most Vol fans wanted Fulmer to take over due to his success earlier in the season.

Not commenting Fulmer versus Majors but, wondering if he was done wrong. Seems many thought Fulmer’s end wasn’t handled well either.

That's a multi-layered question with no right answer. Johnny was on one hand demanding the highest salary in the SEC, while heavily hitting the Jack D on the other hand. Fulmer was liked by Joe Johnson, and probably lobbied for the job under the table. Fulmer was rumored to be the favorite for the Auburn job that year, so the Board made a tough decision and went with Fulmer. Probably a lot more happened behind the scenes than we'll ever know publicly.

No more wrong than anyone else who gets replaced by someone better than them at their job. Sucks for him that the way UT found out there was someone better was because of health problems for him, but that's not UT's fault.

Absolutely. Phil was working on getting Johnny’s job before John got to the hospital. CFP was a snake in the grass. John Majors deserved better.
