I have to ask, have they changed the rule of tagging the base runner or base on a force out or are my eyes just getting bad that I can’t see the speed of these players tagging the base before throwing to first for the double play? I am embarrassed that I don’t know, but I ask because it appears on tv that a bang bang play up the middle does not require the tag to get the force out and they sling it over to first. Not just a tn thing, it’s every team.

I agree that the ruling seems to give any benefit of doubt to the fielder. It may be that the frames per second on our TV’s are too low to get a good look at the play.

It just appears sometimes that the fielder is 2 feet from the bag and doesn’t appear to try and tag the bag before throwing to first and they call the baserunner out. Could be the tv or eyes, just didn’t know if they passed a rule for “safety” to alleviate the possibility of runner and fielders colliding

Forced slide rule is there for safety. No changes to put out rule.
