Coach Heupel with Josh Pate

Big year for Heupel coming up
I said in 2024 that it was the biggest year of Tennessee 🏈 this century and we made the CFP. Unfortunately, it ended on a very sour 🗒️ and then Nico left.

I feel really good about this season. Defense wins championships. I think we’re going to be much, much improved on that side of the 🏈

And from what I’m reading and observing, I think we’re about to enter FaizONE. I get why people compare Faizon to HH.

Except, he’s 17 and hasn’t even scratched the surface of his potential. I like GMac and maybe he wins the job, and I’ll 💯 percent ride with him if he’s our QB. However, I think Faizon will be special in this offense.

That was a lot better than the typical Q&A we’ve seen with JH. A combination of insightful questions and more specific answers. Less coach-speak and more thoughts on philosophy of what he’s looking for and how to achieve it.
JH is a smart guy and it feels like the next level isn’t far off. I expect the next 3 years to be incrementally better as the Defense + S&C takes hold.

Pretty good listen. I will say that Josh isn't the best interview...same w/ pressers. He just doesn't give you too much. I'm glad he's our coach though, and you just know JH is a genuine and classy coach, who's doing stuff the right way.

On the other hand, I listened to his short Michael Vick interview...for as many self-inflicted bad things he's been thru, he sure has turned things around, to be a positive role model, transparently using his past transgressions to guide young men.

Year 6 and people are casually saying 7-5 like it’s year 0. He needs to win 9 games this year and win a natty next year. Baseball got one, The Deacon is about to bring one home with the roster he’s building. Football school needs to be elite at football and Josh hasn’t gotten it done yet.

Agreed. Should be no excuses or we are rebuilding in year 6 for him. it’s year 6!! no national or sec titles yet , no SEC title game appearances either and zero wins over Georgia.

He’s living that high school summer break life. Watch Sports Center all morning, go in for a 2 hour workout, and get on the computer and talk to your buddies afterwards. No wife. No kids. Just influencer money.
Pate is married actually
