Yeah, probably a 2 game suspension if that. If it was us and he had came here, the ncaa would make sure our season was over.

I'm pretty sure we were never in the running to get Sorsby but nonetheless, what a dumb move on his part.

It looks like it was lots of little personal bets and nothing malicious, at least right now. I like seeing these things get high level press because it'll give vulnerable players pause before giving in to "shaving" points offers and such.

Folks like to hate on NIL and transfers but sports gambling is also a big threat to the integrity of all levels and all types of sports. I'm willing to bet 😎 much more game fixing goes on than we imagine.

Always has, and with much more of the betting being on the grid now it makes it far more likely that we end up hearing about it.

First opened the thread thinking there was a former Vol player named Soraby that passed away...
Then thought maybe it was a new 5 start recruit we were after...
Then thought perhaps it was a current player declaring for the portal that we were pursuing...

Finally realized it was a typo with no context in the thread title on a guy that was never coming to UT to begin with...

The rules strictly prohibit players from betting on sports, but it even puts a bigger emphasis on betting on the team you play for! Even though he was in a red shirt year, he knew this was wrong. If they stick by their word and the rules, this guys eligibility is over.
Yes, if they enforce their own rules it will nip this in the butt. It will take that too make a few people learn. The punishment has too be a deterrent for that. Anybody betting on their own team or teams of their school while playing there deserves to be stripped of all eligibility. GBO

I'm wondering if Cody Campbell still has to pay him if he loses his eligibility if NCAA finds proof he bet on his games? Surely in the contract there is out clauses like a HC fire with cause.

His parents literally live in West Knoxville. We were most certainly in it.

Actually we were in the mix for him, certainly seems possible they could’ve passed with some due diligence red flags even if they didn’t formally know about the gambling…however there’s a great chance they did know. Coach and admin would never disclose any of that publicly.

I suspect players and refs gambling is a much bigger problem than NIL.

Yeah who didn't see this coming with all the gambling advertisements and the ability to bet online. No surprise.

Anyone surprised? I mean everywhere you turn you’re told it’s perfectly fine. Obviously it’s not but am fairly certain there’s a whole lot more of this going on than AD offices would like to think.
In all fairness to Sorsby, the advertisements they’re running during these football games every commercial break there is at least a draft kings commercial or a fan duel commercial, or a betmgm. When they keep running these ads what do they expect

Had a co worker ask me while inside a casino if I wanted to wager on the LL WS. I despise gambling, thank goodness. I like making money.
