Let’s operate under the assumption that Coleman won’t play here (based on the news today).

Tyree Weathersby6’5â€272 lbsEDGERedshirt Junior
Mariyon Dye6’5â€245 lbsEDGESophomore
Carter Gooden6’5â€255 lbsEDGEFreshman
Jordan Carter6’4â€250 lbsEDGEFreshman
Kedric Golston II6’4â€260 lbsEDGEFreshman
Carson Gentle6’3â€265 lbsEDGERedshirt Sopho

Here is what we have at EDGE. How bad does this hamper our D? We were gutted in the portal at end.

Any of our massive stable of LBs move down?

(sorry for the one weird column… did it on AI)

But that is razor thin, and 100% unproven.

Cut ties with Coleman….time to stop wasting time with these thugs that want to play games. They want the money but don’t want to willed for it.
Totally agree. Theres less than a 10% chance he plays a down. Character doesn’t change overnight.

They have to get ready without him. Even if he showed he won’t play.

Why is he a thug?
No but he is obviously mentally weak or he just hasn't kept his word. Regardless if he had no intention of playing here he shouldn't have committed to us. He should also be forced to give his NIL $ back bcuz that could have been used on someone who actually wanted to be here and someone who wouldn't turn his back on his teammates and keep his commitmentm

He's not a thug. Too early to give up on him. This is NOT a Boo Carter situation. He'll come around. With that being said, the EDGE depth is looking a little concerning, but with the way our coaching staff has been able to develop guys I wouldn't be too worried

You left off Gass and Norman who will be the starter at Edge.

Does anybody truly know if Coleman is getting paid to hold out? This NIL crap is starting to get ridiculous. I get it if you're home sick but if you're collecting a paycheck to hold out and you know you're not playing ball in Knoxville every dime should be recovered. I have no idea how this works but this is getting ridiculous.

As far as this thread goes give a guy that less talented a chance that is 100% committed to the program than to constantly cater to guys that aren't. I'd rather lose with committed guys than win with guys you constantly have to beg to stay

That sounds great and all but those days are pretty much gone in the NIL era.

You have to pay to get the players or they go elsewhere whom will.

It’s free agency now.

I said this earlier. You just can't plan anything with this kid in the picture. You move on and work with what's known. If he shows up and contribute, fine, but you don't count on guys like Coleman. If he and his family don't want to be here, just return the money and transfer already. Why drag things out?

Weathersby has good size on him so he’ll play. Dye and Gooden were both top 100 recruits in their respective classes according to 247 (Dye was 94th last year’s cycle and Gooden was 66th this year’s recruiting cycle) Gentle probably won’t get a lot of playing time, he was ranked outside the top 100 at his position in his class as a three star recruit. Same with Golston. Carter was the 28th best EDGE in this year’s class and was a 4 star recruit so I’d imagine he gets some playing time as well. With that being said, all of this is based on recruiting rankings, height and weight, not performance in the weight room, practice tape, 40 times ect

Won’t be as good as prior years but if Dye can take a big step along with Utley and Campbell in the interior then this d-line will have some decent depth.

Hopefully Hobbs can be ready to go. Hobbs if healthy and Gilliam are going to cause a lot of problems for opposing o-lines. This is also what makes the loss of Coleman if he is gone so tough because word was during practice when he was dialed in he was unblockable.

Exactly. I’m aware that he has some sort of problem and some at UT are trying to help him.
I’m glad that they are doing what they can, but paying him one dime is flat wrong.
He needs to fish or cut bait.
