Every team is within 3 games of the lead after 3 conference series, what helps the BaseVols this weekend? By help I mean helping us get to Hoover in late May.

Missouri at Kentucky Mizzou winning helps UT overtake the kaintucks.

Florida at South Carolina I am thinking we want USCe here since we have little chance to overtake the chickens. Might as well have them pound the gators back to the pack

Texas A&M at Vanderbilt Even though I have a VU graduate degree, I could care less the dores. But them winning/sweeping the series helps put aTm in worse shape Hoover-wise.

Auburn at Alabama bammers, same as above. Aubie owns a tie breaker with us so we need some distance.

Ole Miss at Mississippi St. hmmmm maybe a two game split with a rainout? I dunno.

Arkansas at LSU I guess LSU winning 2 or 3 helps us move up to secure a post season tourney spot.

GBO!

Totally the wrong way to look at it. If we take care of business and are one game above .500, we are in Hoover and in a regional. Period. If we are a game or two below .500 we will likely make Hoover, but may have to put on a show to get into a regional. Everyone is going to beat up on everyone all year. No sense in getting caught up in all of it at this point. Watch, enjoy, and cheer for good baseball. But the only results we really care about at this point are our own.

The key to getting to Hoover and a regional is to win series at home and not get swept on the road. If we can win another game this weekend, we have essentially erased the SC sweep, and are on a great pace to make the postseason. That really is as complex as it needs to be. Go Vols!

If the vols finish with a impressive finish for a good conference record above 500 the sc sweep will be a distant memory.

Vandy was the start and assuming the vols finish impressive like the basketball team more than likely theyll make a regional.
Winning back to back conference series is hard to do.

I will side with op. I want to finish as high as possible in the league. It only helps our cause when the teams in front of us lose. The exception being USC and probably lsu.
Doubt we will catch them.

Maybe as a 69 Chicago Cubs fan, I learned the fine art of scoreboard watching. Well.... at least NASA got Neil on the moon without screwing up that summer.

to the reply.... thanks Kaptain Obvious that if the BaseVols win out it does not matter. However in a 30 game conference schedule that ain't happening. Typical VN reply.

I hear ya raider. Some folks don't understand the concept that a higher reg. season finish = a better seed in Hoover. Nothing complicated about your theory.

Let's worry about getting to Hoover first. Looking ahead at this point is not good for anyone. It could all change in one week. Imagine if Maggio, Houser, and Jackson start hitting better. The most important thing is we finish the regular season hot.

So by Hoover you mean the sec tournament?
Also was it changed from top 8 to top 10?

Vols got two problems not able to win back to back conference series, and Friday is a slump for sec games.
Both are not insurmountable but vols need to start going on a streak like basketball vols did that started with vandy if I recall right.

Vols got the players to succeed I'm optimistic they will go on the long streak needed the same as the basketball vols did.
This weekend was the road bump of loading the bases is a cardinal sin usually likely to end in disaster, and giving up to many runs early.

I nickname them the Tremendous Three if that were to happen.
I would say Dynamite Three but the repeating of first letters for both words is kickass or great.
