we jumped 4 spots in espn class ranking with the north commit where everyone think we go if land lawson and bell

honestly, i would not necessarily trust these kids with their commitment to us until they sign the papers and suit up. kids are to fragile now a days and change their minds a lot and are prone to on NSD. this is no knock on the recruiting staff for busting their butts to get good folks/players here.

I'm more in their production than their subjective ranking. Have a top ranked class is pretty pointless if the players don't qualify, get homesick and leave, get kicked off, etc.

See the 2009 class as a prime example.

If we can get Lawson and Bell that would be huge, throw in a couple guys like Ford and Bellamy a top 20 class should be a lock.

If the Vols get comittments from Bell and Lawson, they should move up to around 20, and if they can pull Levenberry, Bellamy and Miller, plus a couple of other recruits to get their numbers up to 23-24, their ranking should jump to around 12.

And still ranked 10th or so in the SEC...tough league!

If the Vols gets Bell and Lawson, they would be sitting at 14th right now. After that, if they added one more low three star like Kondolo, they would be up to 12th. After that the bump is a little less because you take the top 20 players committed. Class could easily be ranked top 10 if they were to get Bell, Lawson, Levenberry, Miller, Dobbs, and Kondolo. Definitely would be if you added Ford and one of Boyd/Gibson. I say top 15 will happen.

I'll use Bama, LSU, UF and UGA as counter examples. Getting top ranked players is a huge part of being a top ranked team year in and year out. It's not everything but it is an undeniable fact that it does play a role.

I'm not saying it doesn't play a role. All I'm saying is that you have to do something with the players when they get on campus and the teams you've mentioned have certainly done that.

UT isn't that fortunate at this time, and must make the most of what they have.

I really don't care where we're ranked on NSD.

I just want more really good football players that will stay in school, out of trouble and will WIN lots of games and make a push for the SEC East Championship.

to me the crucial number is being a top 15 recruiting class according to rivals.

Since rivals has been ranking classes the lowest ranked class to win a National Championship as juniors was 15th. I believe that was Florida.

While talking about rank is exciting I think we should wait and see how we do the first game or 5 before we get ourselves too excited.
