Congratulations to Rainey Gaffin (1st Team, Utility/Pitcher), Lexi Overstreet (3rd Team, Catcher), Megan Geer (3rd Team, Third Base) and Meghan Gregg (3rd Team, Shortstop) for earning the 2016 NFCA Division I All-Region (Southeast) recognition. Great job and well deserved.

I can understand how a case can be made for both Kristen Brown of UNC-CH (1st team) and Sami Fagan of Mizzou (2nd team) being named ahead of Gregg. It's a toss-up.
But, Carlee Wallace a second-teamer ahead of Lexi? IMO Lexi Overstreet should have been named to the first team ahead of both Aubree Munro (1st team) & Carlee Wallace (2nd team)...

They're Lady Vols and disagree about Lexi ahead of Munro. Munro is best in the game.

but mediocre offensively. If one considers offense and defense, as one should, I say Overstreet had a better year--and comfortable so. Her batting avg. was something like 100 points higher; all her offensive numbers were much better. So big edge to Overstreet offensively, modest edge to Munro defensively. And Overstreet gets my nod!

Well, let's look at their (updated) stats once again:

1. Lexi Overstreet

.355 AVG, 12 HR, 56 RBI, 48 R, .460 OB%, .697 SLG%, 11-11 SB-ATT, .987 FLD%

2. Carlee Wallace

.319 AVG, 4 HR, 35 RBI, 36 R, .453 OB%, .521 SLG%, 0-0 SB-ATT, .974 FLD%

3. Aubree Munro

.279 AVG, 3 HR, 28 RBI, 20 R, .365 OB%, .400 SLG%, 0-0 SB-ATT, .998 FLD%

Ladies & gentlemen of the jury, I rest my case.

At least the pro scouts thought highly of Overstreet and she got drafted ahead of Munro (19th overall vs. 39th).

Munro vs Overstreet is an interesting debate. Kind of depends on the makeup of your team as to what you need at that position. I would give Munro more than a modest advantage defensively. Teams don't run on UF because of her. Overstreet is an outstanding offensive player.

If Ralph had Munro on his roster, Overstreet would be playing somewhere else besides catcher. If Walton had Overstreet she would be playing another position there as well. As has been said many times the bat will find a position. But every coach is going to go with the superior defensive option behind the dish if the bat is serviceable.
