Just saw where Kyle Oliver committed yesterday. Thought FSU was gonna get this guy. Way to go Butch!

NOTE: 247 "Skills" (2nd link) has him off the chart on everything but "Point of Attack," where they grade him really low. I wonder what that's about.

Damn! I didn't even see this one! I don't recall us ever getting this many commitments at one time. Great haul over the weekend!

No to be a Debbie Downer but I don't even see where FSU offered. Just basically a lot of smaller programs. Am I wrong?

Maybe he meant LSU. Not all of his offers are small schools. I see LSU, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Georgia, Kentucky, Purdue, etc. He has a very good offer list!

I posted this quote in Oliver's thread but as Barton Simmons explains his stock is rising fast because his potential at TE or H-Back far exceeds that of a WR (the position he has played to date)

Kyle Oliver has been one of the fastest rising prospects this spring as a tight end. The catch is that he's never played tight end. He's been a wide receiver in his high school's offense and it wasn't until people started looking at him in the context of a tight end that his recruitment really took off. At 6-foot-5, 230 pounds, Oliver possesses very good hands and ball skills, he can run crisp routes and he can make plays over smaller defenders. What he's lacking is experience in the blocking game as an in-line player. There may have been an adjustment period for Oliver in a true pro-style system that uses the more traditional tight end but at Tennessee with the spread system, he should be able to quickly become a factor as a mismatch player that can attack a defense from a number of different places in the pass game.
Back in May, I wrote about Oliver as a player whose best case scenario could be Eric Ebron in the right offense. In Tennessee, he's found the right offense.

No LSU or OSU offer, only interest. He's a take at TE but not WR IMO.

Probably because they don't have film of him blocking from the TE position at the point of attack. He's been a WR until now.

In-state talent. Good addition. Close down the borders and keep our in-state players at THE University of the state of Tennessee.
