·Cody Riggs: Broward County athletes may steal the show at state track meet
·Solomon Patton: Four local high school football stars nominated for national all ...Region champions St. Thomas Aquinas boys and Fort Lauderdale girls may not have enough firepower to win tonight's 3A team titles, but talented hurdler Cody Riggs of St. Thomas and jumper Jahneel Tyrell of Fort Lauderdale will make it interesting.
·Antonio Goodwin: Goodwin's in no rushFour rising seniors from the Mobile area are among 11 players from Alabama -- and more than 400 nationwide -- who have been nominated to possibly play in the 2010 U.S. Army All-American high school football game. The four local nominees are Theodore linebacker Clinton Mosley, Blount safety Jarrick Williams, Williamson linebacker Barry James and Murphy wide receiver Solomon Patton.
·Justin McCay: McCay Taking All VisitorsAntonio Goodwin is one of the fastest wide receivers in the state of Georgia and he has great length to go with that speed. (Scout video interview)
·Trovon Reed: Preparations under way for '09 seasonRecruited to play receiver by every program looking at him, Justin McCay is also an outstanding defender. It is at receiver that he looks to do his damage at the college level. Coaches from Arkansas, Texas A&M, Kansas, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Florida have already been by to see him. This week he is expecting Notre Dame by his school
·Justin Maclin: Kaufman Visits Tenn. LBThe Tigers are also a known commodity now, and with the country’s 14th-rated recruit (www.rivals.com) in Trovon Reed, Thibodaux will be in the spotlight all year.
“[UNC is] high on my mind, actually,” Maclin said. “[I like] the school, period. They’ve got a lot of tradition at the school; I think I’ll have an opportunity to play; and Butch Davis is a good coach, so I think they’ll be winning a lot of games soon.”
·William Gholston: LSU is in the mixAlabama, Florida, LSU, and Southern Cal make up Maclin’s “top four.” Though, he readily states every school is being considered.
·Jesse Scroggins: New Rivals rankings are short on star quarterbacks“Football is football, so I don’t mind going out of state,” he said. “Nowhere will be too far if I fit in, because it will be my new home. I think about midseason I will decide, so between now and then I just want to take some visits across the country and see how I feel on things.”
·Dietrich Riley: Riley looking to contribute immediatelyOscar Smith (Chesapeake, Va.) quarterback Phillip Sims is now the top quarterback in the nation, ranked No. 58. He's ahead of Austin Hinder of Steamboat Springs (Colo.), Bell, Joe Boisture of Goodrich (Mich.), Paul Jones of Sto Rox (McKees Rocks, Pa.) and Jesse Scroggins of Lakewood (Calif.). Scroggins is a new entry to the Rivals100 after an amazing performance at a Nike Camp and further analysis on film.
·Dan Koenig: NFL hopeful returns to inspire Cape football team (different quote from yesterday)"The practices at USC are up there," Riley said. "They'd be the most elite in that respect. Their practices are like a game. The coaches get all 'geeked up'. It's not surprising that they have such successful seasons because of the way they prepare."
"UCLA is a little bit that way but not quite the same. Tennessee wasn't quite at that level either but the speed there was amazing. The facilities at Tennessee are, by far, the best I've seen so far."
·Justin Hunter: Hunter close to committing? (LSU)Dan Koenig has two older brothers, David and Doug, who signed with Oklahoma State University after graduating from Cape Coral."I'm pretty much getting offers every day," said Dan Koenig, who has 17 scholarship offers so far, according to Goebbel.
They range from Miami to Tennessee to Wake Forest, Connecticut, Pittsburgh and South Carolina.
·Gabe King: Coveted lineman awaits NC ruling"I'm still thinking about it," Hunter said. "Basically, I'm going to let my mom see the campus first. If she likes it then we're going to think about committing. We'll probably get down there sometime close to the beginning of the summer."
King has since transferred to Northern Guilford High, where he hopes to play this fall if the association rules in his favor. If it does not, he might wind up at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., where his brother Antonio once played, waiting for his chance to play in college.
·Solomon Patton: Still interested in LSU?
“My top schools that have offered are LSU, Alabama, Florida and Florida State,” he said. “I think I have 13 total offers, but no real leaders. I will decided some time before football season, but right now I am still wide open.”
